About The Welkin
The Welkin is a Wetherspoon pub in the city centre, in Liverpool One, at 7 Whitechapel. Tea and Lavazza coffee come with free refills all day, every day, which suits anyone settling in for a long catch-up. Breakfast is served early, and all-day brunch takes over once it ends. Lunch and dinner lean towards lighter bites, with vegetarian choices, gourmet burgers and freshly made pizzas. On the drinks side, the bar pours hand-pulled cask real ales alongside craft beers, gins and soft drinks. Bars and seating are spread across two floors, and a second bar counter upstairs means orders can be placed on either level. Table service is also available through the Wetherspoon app.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to cheap and cheerful pub food, including an all day brunch that one diner was glad to find after breakfast had finished and called delicious, and pub grub described as great value. Close behind are friendly staff and quick service, plus a good selection of draught drinks, including six hand pulled cask real ales said to be in excellent condition and cheaper than other Wetherspoons nearby. The recurring complaint is how busy it gets. Tables take quite a while to be cleared after customers leave, seating is limited, and tables sit close together, which makes bringing shopping bags awkward. Food draws mixed views: one reviewer found it just okay, while another reported stale poppadoms and chicken swimming in grease. Service is a split too. One diner found the upstairs bar counter made ordering easy, but another described a single staff member serving about 30 tables upstairs, with people leaving because of the long wait for a drink.

“This place has really gone down. The smell wasn't great and the longer we sat there, the more I realised how dirty it was plus full of old men screaming and swearing at each other. Food wasn't up to much, poppadoms were stale and the chicken was swimming in grease. Won't be returning.”

“I was severed by a lovely young female called Libby, I was fuming that breakfast had finished but she offered that we have an all day brunch available. I was happy to hear this and legged it into the bar to order it. When it arrived, it was delicious and Libby returned half way through the meal too check that everything was good food wise. I would highly recommend The Welkin for anyone who is in the local area. Lovely food and staff.”

“Thankyou to Joe! ( I hope I got the correct name!!) What an asset you were amazing! So hard working and although it was incredibly busy you were really helpful. I visited with freinds a couple of weeks ago. We had pub grub( great value) and did what it said on the tin! Keep up the great work! Tina”

“Sat up the stairs as it was busy and only 1 staff up the stairs in that bar serving about 30 tables. Service was very slow but not the bar persons fault they apologised but it was obviously management decision to only have 1 staff member at that bar. People were leaving the pub because of the long wait just fodrink”
