About The Monro
The Monro is a bar on Duke St in Liverpool, housed in a late 1700s Georgian merchant's mansion and styled as a reworked 100-year-old Dublin pub. Real log fires burn inside, and exposed beams, old signs and original features fill the rooms. The bar spreads over three floors with nooks and crannies, and the long, narrow main bar on the ground floor has seating along the counter. Guinness and Murphy's are served at the bar, alongside real ales and a large range of beers. Hot sausage rolls and pies are on hand as bar snacks.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the beer: a long bar with a huge number of real ales, good ciders and a well-poured Guinness. Named favourites include the Titanic raspberry IPA and the Vocation Naughty & Nice chocolate stout. Close behind is the setting, a Georgian building over three floors with nooks and crannies, real fires, old signs and original features, plus a beer garden where one visitor watched World Cup football. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and one visitor who drove four hours felt hugely welcome. Hot sausage rolls and pies are mentioned as bar snacks. The main caveats are the crowds and the layout. The pub gets very busy, and one reviewer has always found seats but accepts a wait for service, while another notes the back garden is reached by very steep steps. Others say it suits group conversation, and families bring small kids who get juice and chips.

“Fab, characterful pub. Spacious traditional interior with loads of interesting nooks and crannies, but with plenty of lovely natural daylight. Smallish atmospheric beer terrace out back plus a covered outdoor Ben h seeing area with heaters and TVs unobtrusively playing sport. Great selection of beers, good ciders and they have hot sausage rolls and pies as bar snacks. Lovely friendly staff. Packed with locals of all ages, clearly a cosy place to come for a solo pint and a good book too.”

“Very impressive Grade 11 Georgian property that is very atmospheric. Set over three floors, it is full of nooks and crannies to while away an hour or three. The main bar on the ground floor is long and narrow that leads to a large, impressive, indoor garden area. There is seating at the lengthy bar, near the front window and on a raised area near the front door. That lengthy bar boasts a huge number of real ales and the staff are very friendly. The ground floor is accessible and has an accessible toilet. The back garden area is reached by very steep, non-standard, steps”

“Whilst visiting Liverpool recently, I popped in here for a bit of World Cup footy in beer garden, and to sample a range of ales (+ sausage roll). All excellent by the way. I guess you could refer to the style-decor as 'dilapidated chic'. In any case, this is an exceptionally cool pub, with plenty of history...which it wears rather well!”

“Kaia and Milly were massively attentive. A great credit to the pub! I drove 4 hrs to get here and they made me feel hugely welcome!!!!”

“A fantasic find on a random wander. The decor is really interesting, lots of old signs, original features. The range of beers is incredible. The Titanic raspberry IPA is very good. The Vocation Naughty & Nice chocolate stout is a taste sensation. They serve a great pint of Murphy's into the bargain.”
