About Salt & Fettle
Salt & Fettle is a cafe in Lincoln, at 11 St Mary's St, and it hosts the Lincoln Silent Book Club in a space that mixes heritage and modern architecture. That gives readers and journal writers a place to settle in a large, spacious room with comfy seats. The food side runs from coffee, sweet treats and a selection of drinks to mains such as lamb, chorizo and a forest dish. Coconut sugar goes into many of the desserts, and the kitchen offers a good range of gluten-free options. Larger parties can pre-order, which makes the cafe workable for groups.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the coffee, calling it good and exceptionally good, and it sits alongside a warm, friendly team. Close behind are the food and the room. One diner praised the forest dish and the chorizo, another called the lamb incredible, and others describe the food as a different take on usual cafe fare. Several highlight the choice for gluten intolerances, with coconut sugar used in many of the desserts. The setting draws repeated praise for its mix of heritage and modern, with spacious, comfy seating and plugs for laptops, and one reviewer says it never feels overcrowded or cramped. A book club and a large group both had a relaxed visit, the group using a pre-order option that went seamlessly. The only wish reviewers voice is for longer opening hours, since one would like to come on weekends. The chef checking in on tables and recommending dishes that were spot on is a detail one diner closes on.

“Salt & Fettle highly recommend! We had a lovely experience here. The food was absolutely bursting with flavour. I especially loved the forest dish, while my husband couldn’t get enough of the chorizo. Everything was so well prepared and delicious. A special shoutout to the chef who kept checking in to make sure everything was alright. The dishes he recommended were spot on, and you could really tell he takes pride in creating a great experience for his guests. The interior is also beautiful, spacious, warm, and aesthetically pleasing, making it such a lovely place to dine. We only discovered this place because a friend recommended it, and we’re so glad we did. More people definitely need to know about this hidden gem. We would love to come back again!”
