About The Plough at Shenstone
On Pinfold Hill in Shenstone, near Lichfield, The Plough at Shenstone is an independently owned pub, restaurant and bar that opens daily. The kitchen starts diners off with crab arancini or a scotch egg, and mains include fillet and ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce. The bar carries a range of liquor. Private rooms upstairs have hosted birthday parties and a wake, so groups can book a space of their own away from the main room. A three-course Christmas menu runs in the festive season, and a special menu is set aside for Saturdays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the steak, with one calling the ribeye the best they have eaten in years, cooked medium as asked and served with a peppercorn sauce they found fantastic. Close behind, a diner who is a chef singles out the crab arancini and the filet steak, while another names the three-course Christmas menu as hot and well presented. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and accommodating, from squeezing in an unbooked table to arranging a wake and a birthday party in an upstairs private room. The beer garden, where someone came to put a heater on, also earns mentions. The picture is not uniform. One reviewer calls a Saturday meal appalling, with overcooked frozen-seeming ingredients and a dirty menu sheet, while another found the lamb and pork belly dry, the roast potatoes overcooked and the fried chicken starter uninspiring. A third says the triple chips were not quite triple cooked. Several mention the modern look, one missing country pub charm and another calling it clean.

“Thank you to Pete, Kate and the team at the Plough. We are so pleased that we arranged to have my dads wake here. From our first visit to enquire whether the date was available nothing was too much trouble. Both Kate and Pete offered options for the day, and were so accommodating to what we wanted. We were unsure on numbers and again this wasn’t an issue, and the team adapted on the day. The food was absolutely fantastic, as was the service, and the team. Thank you all so much for helping us to give my dad such a good send off and celebrate his life.”

“Went for a dinner with friends. Best cooked Ribeye steak I have eaten in years. I like medium, it was perfect. The peppercorn sauce was fantastic. Great service, great food and lovely setting. Highly recommended.”

“The food was absolutely delicious, we came for my partners parents birthdays/retirement dinner. I had the crab arancini and was absolutely blown away, I can confidently say it was the best arancini I’ve ever had. The filet steak was superb, as a chef myself, it was cooked to perfection. Sadly I only snapped two photos of the food I had however, the pizzas are incredibly big and fresh! No complaints from the nine of us dined together. The liquor “safe” has an exquisite range and honestly wish I lived locally as I’d visit weekly!”
