Customer Review Summary

Reviews split sharply. Praise centers on the salt and pepper spare ribs, which one diner calls delicious and on par with restaurant food, with the sweet and sour chicken soup and chicken satay starters close behind. Another reviewer calls the food authentic, the prices reasonable and the staff friendly, and a third found the set menu delicious and very generous. Complaints outnumber the praise, though, and are specific. Several describe large group orders arriving cold, with rice noodles clumped together and meat overcooked, while one calls the prawn toast a potential murder weapon. Another found the Singapore fried noodles mushy with dry meat, the prawn crackers burnt, and the duck dry and tough with pancakes caked in flour, and says the duck cost more than the menu advertised. A visitor reports fried rice with no egg that seemed days old. Two object to being unable to pay by card. One reviewer's chicken in plum sauce arrived with no plum sauce at all.

“Part of a large order of which the restaurant clearly couldn't accommodate. They charged more for the duck than advertised on a menu that was collected today. The duck was dryer than the Sahara desert and tougher than an old boot. The pancakes for the duck was caked in flour and fell apart when trying to wrap them up. The Singapore fried noodles reminded me of super noodles that have been over watered, mushy mess! But the meat in it was dry The prawn crackers are burnt, how do you even burn crackers?! I wouldn't order from this restaurant again if I hadn't eaten for a week. So if you have no taste buds, I'm sure you'll love it. If you do, I'd recommend another restaurant.”

“What a wonderful Chinese takeaway! I discovered this place while visiting my son at the army barracks, having travelled over from York, and I only wish I’d found it sooner. The salt and pepper spare ribs were absolutely delicious, the sweet and sour chicken soup was packed with flavour, and the chicken satay starters were amazing. The quality of the food was easily on par with restaurant food. One of the best Chinese takeaways I’ve had in a very long time. Definitely worth the trip, and I’ll certainly be back whenever I’m visiting again.”
