About The Horse & Groom
On School Ln in Leicester, The Horse & Groom is a traditional village pub in Queniborough that opens daily. Long alley skittles at the back are used for team games and local skittles matches, which gives league sides and casual groups a game on site. The kitchen serves Sunday lunch as a roast, and it caters for vegetarian and gluten-free requests. A footlong hot dog also appears on the menu. Groups can order pub meals in advance, and the dining area can be booked for private events such as a work Christmas do or a send-off. Live music takes place at the venue.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the food, with the Sunday roast and the beef drawing the strongest praise, one calling it the best pub beef in a very long time and another describing a well presented roast followed by dessert. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, helpful and welcoming, including a chef who catered for two vegetarians, one also gluten free, on a late Sunday lunch booking. A landlord's homemade cheesecake left clean plates at a large Christmas party, where long alley skittles at the back was a highlight, and others mention skittles matches followed by a tasty supper. Smaller mentions include a footlong hot dog and a pub that hosted a send off for a family member with little stress. One reviewer found it a little quiet early on, though with plenty of seating. The one recurring detail is staff going out of their way, such as letting in a group of mothers with babies for coffee before the pub was ready for customers.

“We were a party of about 25 staff on our work's Christmas do. We had the dining area to ourselves, drinks on arrival, then team games of long alley skittles at the back. We broke for a delicious pub meal we had ordered in advance. Food was generous, all hot, and organised by name so no issues on who was having what. Simon the landlord made his own cheesecake and we all agreed it was absolutely delicious, even with the generous portions there were clean plates all round. We finished our games then had coffee and mince pies. We had a few dietary requirements and individual requests which were all more than met by the landlord. The bar staff were very attentive and personable, nothing was too much trouble. Everyone had a great time, we would book again without any hesitation.”
