Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers return for the carvery, with gammon, turkey and beef on offer alongside roasts, new potatoes and cauliflower cheese, and several describe it as freshly cooked, plentiful and good value. Close behind is the staff, called friendly and helpful, including a team member who offered to carry a plate for an elderly diner and others who accommodated relatives with reduced mobility or a disability. Desserts are described as generous enough to take home in a box, and one reviewer praises a chicken combo with a well dressed salad. The family setup with indoor and outdoor play areas is noted, though one reviewer says to avoid sitting near it for a quiet meal. Cooking consistency draws the main complaint. One long-time regular calls it a lottery and describes an overcooked fish and sausage chip shop supper and an overcooked mixed grill, along with being charged twice after the payment system failed to connect to the pub's app. Another says food late in the evening seemed to have been sitting and was not fresh. Reviewers describe a table booked easily for a Saturday carvery, steered close to the carvery counter.

“I have dined here numerous times, and have brought different family members with me. These members have included a vegan, and an elderly relative who has some reduced mobility. We have had the Carvery every time, and cannot rate it highly enough! We have attended on various days and times, experiencing both busy and quiet periods, and the staff are always friendly and professional. The quality of food has always remained the same. Always freshly cooked and plentiful! In summary, Hobby Horse Farm remains extremely good value for money, and has never disappointed!”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a fantastic visit to the Hobby Horse in Syston, made even better by our waitress, Ellie Hull. From the moment we arrived, Ellie was welcoming, friendly and attentive, making us feel valued throughout our meal. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She checked in regularly without being intrusive, had a lovely positive attitude, and made sure everything was just right. It’s clear she genuinely cares about providing excellent customer service, and it really made a difference to our experience. The food was great, but Ellie’s outstanding service is what we’ll remember most. She’s a real credit to the Hobby Horse, and we hope she’s recognised for the fantastic job she does. We’ll definitely be returning!”

“We've been going here regularly for years. However the standard of the cooking is a lottery. Last night the PayPal system wouldn't converse with the Greene king app so we paid twice for very overcooked meals. The fish and sausage in my chip shop supper were both overcooked as was the meat in my husband's mixed grill. We won't be back.”

“My wife and I stopped off here for lunch while passing through on holiday. Plenty of parking and easy to find. Overall we had a good experience and would return again. We both had the standard carvery meal. We visited on a weekday and there were plenty of locals dining in.Friendly staff too.”
