About Hope & Anchor
Hope & Anchor is a pub in Leicester on Wanlip Rd, set on the Grand Union Canal off the River Soar, with visitor moorings directly outside. It opens daily. The kitchen cooks homemade food, including a homemade burger, and the Sunday menu offers a roast and a lamb Sunday dinner. Dishes arrive on slates. Dogs are welcome, and a dog menu is offered. Entertainment runs regularly, with a karaoke night on Wednesday. Bookings are taken for large groups, and phoning is the easier way to arrange one. A big car park sits alongside the pub.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the home made food, with the lamb Sunday dinner called the best one reviewer has had, and the medium rare steak and homemade burger also singled out. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, accommodating and welcoming, with the chef coming out to answer questions about a child's allergies and the team handling a large birthday booking and dietary needs. Diners also mention the landlady's work on the pub, a karaoke night, the homemade shots, and a dog menu alongside well behaved dogs. Boaters value the mooring directly outside. The complaints are small but specific. One reviewer found the slate plates tricky, with peas ending up over the table and no way to tip the peppercorn sauce on. Another found the menu hard to read, and a Caesar salad arrived with limp lettuce and no parmesan, rectified immediately. One boater could not get a Sunday roast and settled for an okay bacon burger, and another says Facebook messenger replies about bookings are slow or non existent. One diner ordered two huge side dishes for lunch, each under the price of a typical main.

“A pub working hard to get it right. The landlady has lots of good ideas to make it work for different communities. A good menu, very regular entertainment. Situated by the river soar with visitor moorings. Varied clientele depending when you go. Good pricing, good staff. Only been going a year so still work in progress in some aspects, but she deserves success, she's putting massive energy into it. Dog friendly.”
