About The Harrow Inn
The Harrow Inn is an Indian African gastropub in Leicester, on Melton Rd, serving Indian food in a pub setting. The chefs cook to order, with vegetarian, non-vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. The pub runs a weekly African curry night. Dishes include a boneless sizzler served on a cast iron pan, a chicken and lamb mix pot and garlic naan. A well-stocked bar offers a wide range of drinks, and drinks are billed separately from food, so tables receive two bills. A private function room holds up to 45 people, which suits groups marking parties and special occasions. Dogs are welcome. Free parking is on site, directly outside.

Customer Review Summary
Curries are the main draw at this Indian African gastropub, with several diners praising generous portions, fair prices and dishes that each taste distinct. Close behind are the boneless sizzler served on a cast iron pan, the chicken and lamb mix pot, the starters and the wings. Reviewers also mention a wide drink selection at the bar, cricket on screen and friendly, attentive staff. One reviewer likes that the spice runs hot rather than mild. The criticism comes from the lower ratings and is specific. Several say the chicken and main courses tasted frozen and reheated, and the starters lacked flavour. Others found the naan and crispy bhindi not fresh. One reviewer describes very slow service on a Saturday with the wrong drinks delivered and believes the quality has fallen since a change of ownership. Another found the curries all tasted alike. That same group had asked for medium spice on the vegetarian dishes, and every curry arrived extremely spicy.

“Amazing place for a real authentic curry, one the best around in the area and in the city for an wholesome experience. Free parking on site is always a plus but when you go inside - you have a lovely welcoming team as well as the owner who's really friendly and even suggested some of the best dishes on the menu. Very rarely you go to a place these days and have this level of service! The place is in the style of a pub but serving great Indian cuisine. The food is hearty, flavoursome and well worth the money for the size of the portions. The boneless sizzler was amazing with the meat being super juicy and soft served on a cast iron pan and the sound and smell alone was to die for! The Harrow Inn really is the place to be when to comes to the main courses with every curry tasting unique, me and my friends fully enjoyed a lovely mid week meal as well as enjoying a good few drinks from their wide range of drinks selection from the well stocked bar. Highly recommend this place to anyone!”

“It looks like there’s been a change of ownership. We visited on a Saturday—normally one of their busiest days—yet service was very slow even though the restaurant wasn't full. The chicken tasted frozen rather than fresh, and we received the wrong drinks. We even overheard a few neighboring tables commenting that their food didn't taste fresh either. Overall, the quality has gone downhill massively compared to how it used to be.”

“Fantastic place! The food was absolutely top-notch, full of flavour and cooked perfectly. The prices were very reasonable, offering excellent value for money, and the service was spot on from start to finish with friendly, attentive staff. It's a lovely family-friendly pub with a great atmosphere. They also have a fantastic outdoor seating area for those sunny days, as well as function rooms available for parties and special occasions. We'll definitely be back and would highly recommend it!”

“The food here is always full of flavours and the spice is just amazing, considering most places have the spice on mild. A special shoutout to the chef Ram for the best service and food. Love love love the starters and the chicken and lamb mix pot is a must try 😍😍”

“Very disappointing visit to The Harrow Inn. Unfortunately, almost every part of the experience was below standard. We waited far too long to be served, and the staff showed very little interest in helping customers. Instead of being welcoming and attentive, they came across as careless and unprofessional. The food was equally disappointing. The starters lacked flavour and didn't taste freshly prepared at all. The main course was no better—it seemed as though it had been frozen and reheated, with a dry texture and very little taste. Considering the prices, the quality was simply not acceptable. The atmosphere couldn't make up for the poor food and service. No one checked whether we were enjoying our meal, and there was no sense that customer satisfaction mattered. Overall, it was a waste of time and money. I expected much better from this restaurant, but sadly it failed on both food quality and customer service. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend it based on my experience.”
