About The Cherry Tree

The Cherry Tree is a pub in Leicester at 43 E Bond St, at the back of Highcross Shopping Centre. Bass is served on cask, with Bass Red Label on handpull and the other beers on pillar taps. A pool table gives drinkers a game between rounds, and a jukebox handles the music inside the bar. The pub also hosts acoustic performances and open mic nights now and then. Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the friendly staff and regulars, with the welcome described as warm and the place as a proper old English pub. Bass on cask draws repeated praise, one reviewer calling it fantastic, and another names the Guinness as the best outside of Ireland. Close behind is the low cost, with several calling the beer unbelievably cheap or not expensive compared with other pubs in town. The pool table, jukebox and beer garden come up as part of the appeal, and a few mention acoustic nights and open mic nights. One member of long standing also praises the homemade food. The only caveats are small ones: the pub is described as rather small, the beer garden as tiny, and one reviewer says the range of beers is limited and the place is not everyone's cup of tea. Several note that the traditional decor is well preserved inside, and one visitor from out of town says it felt like home from home.

“This is a proper old Leicester pub with a great history. Located at the back of Highcross Shopping Centre. It’s amazing that a pub like this is still standing which just shows it’s well used by its regulars. Only a small range of beers…but it’s unbelievably cheap! Very friendly staff and regulars. Not everyone’s cup of tea but I love it!”
