About Delhi Wala Food

On Bishopgate St in Leeds, Delhi Wala Food is an Indian restaurant and catering company built around Delhi street food, from stuffed paranthas and kachori to chaat. The kitchen also runs to butter chapati, kadai paneer, dal makhani, and kababs, alongside biryanis such as jackfruit and chicken versions. Paneer momos come up often on repeat visits, and the veg and non-veg platters are sized for sharing. Chaat items like dahi bhalla and dahi puri appear regularly, alongside mango lassi, gobhi manchurian, and garlic naan. Lamb rogan josh and lamb biryani round out the non-vegetarian side, and kulfi covers dessert. Vegan options are available across the menu. The space is small, with an aroma that carries outside, and the decor stays understated rather than elaborate. Service runs on a walk-in basis, with no reservations taken.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers repeatedly single out the momos, particularly the paneer momos and dahi puri, as standouts alongside dishes like the jackfruit biryani, chicken biryani, and lamb rogan josh, with the veg and non-veg sharing platters praised for generous portions. Close behind, diners highlight the Shyam Savera, prawn curry, chicken tikka, and Amritsari fish as consistently flavourful, and several mention the mango lassi and dahi bhalla. Hospitality comes up often, with staff described as friendly and welcoming, and one group recounts being surprised with a complimentary dessert after mentioning a birthday. Multiple reviewers contrast the unpretentious, no-frills setting with the quality of the cooking, noting it isn't showy but relies on the food itself. No recurring complaints appear across these reviews, with most describing an intention to return.

“Had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Delhi Wala Food in Leeds city centre. The food quality, taste, and portion sizes were genuinely impressive from start to finish. The jackfruit biryani was beautifully cooked and packed with flavour — easily one of the best vegetarian biryanis I’ve had in the UK. The chicken biryani was equally delicious with perfectly balanced spices and tender chicken throughout. The Shyam Savera was rich, creamy, and full of authentic taste, while the naan was fresh, soft, and complemented every curry perfectly. The prawn curry stood out as well with its fresh prawns and flavourful gravy. What I really appreciated was how consistent everything was across the table — every dish felt carefully prepared with great attention to taste and presentation. The quantity served was more than satisfying without compromising on quality, which is something many places struggle to maintain. The atmosphere, service, and overall experience added to the charm of the place. If you’re looking for authentic Indian flavours in Leeds city centre with generous portions and excellent quality food, Delhi Wala is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommended and would happily return again!”

“The food at Delhi wala is consistently full of flavour and remains a firm favourite whenever I miss having street food in North India. There is nothing pretentious about this small but mighty restaurant and the flavours speak for themselves. Delhi wala is a true credit to the multicultural scene in Leeds city centre and brings innovative and authentic flavours to your plate. The mango lassi, Amritsari fish, gobhi manchurian, paneer momos, dahi puri, achari paneer tikka and spring rolls are all highly recommended.”
