About Nero Express

Nero Express is a coffee shop in Leeds, run from a small counter inside a train station. It serves quick coffees to commuters and to people waiting for their train, so a stop fits before boarding or on the way to work. The menu pairs light dishes with blended hot and cold drinks, and lattes are one of the orders taken at the counter. Coffee comes in a smooth or a rich option. The format is walk-in, with no booking involved. At the till, staff ask whether a customer has the app or a card.

Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers use this station counter for a quick coffee before a train, and the praise centers on fast, friendly service. One had a latte made in seconds, and others describe polite, professional, kind staff and a pistachio croissant they like. The complaints are specific. One reviewer says staff laughed at them for lacking the app or a card when ordering a decaf latte. Another describes being shouted at over rich or smooth, an undisclosed extra charge, and a latte full of burnt foam. One reviewer who is severely lactose intolerant says an americano arrived with cows milk after they declined milk, and another says a leaking tea cup broke its sleeve and scalded their hand several times. One notes evening closing well before the stated hours. Still, one reviewer was handed a latte on the house after a long day at work.

“I come here most weekends before I catch my train, usually no issue however the last time I was in my drink wasn’t warm when I arrived on my train(2 mins after getting my coffee), as I say this is the first time this has happened so I called in at the store to give them a heads up today just so this can be avoided, I spoke to Sergio and he was confrontational from the start claiming that what I was saying was impossible, I have no reason to lie I wasn’t even trying to get a replacement coffee it was just a simple heads up. I explained that the temperature of my girlfriends drink was fine and mine wasn’t there for it not an issue of mine cooling, plus mine wasn’t the bigger drink so should of retained heat more, Sergio then told me that all the drinks are the same size which is not true as I had a latte my girlfriend had a flat white, he was simply looking to debunk what I was saying and being confrontational rather than to actually take on board the issue, very unprofessional and a bad example, the only other time this happened in my life as an avid coffee drinker was in Greggs and they dealt with it immediately and apologised, I just wish pret mirrored the same professionalism. We will now steer clear of pret from now on and are currently enjoying a nice warm Caffè Nero, thanks Sergio 🥶”

“Regularly closed during stated opening hours (confirmed on their website), especially in the evenings- today closed at 1945 when stated 2100 as closing time. Service is below average for a Nero in terms of friendliness, although usually is quick, as you need in this location. Drinks to usual Nero standard.”

“I asked for an americano, they asked if I wanted milk and I said no. Got on the train and realised they put cows milk in there and I am severely lactose intolerant so I couldn’t drink it. £3.70 down the drain, cheers.”

“Great team work this morning. I really wanted a coffee but thought I didn’t have time to get one before my train. They made my coffee in seconds! Thanks so much!”
