Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the food, with halloumi in two forms leading the praise: battered halloumi and fries, and a halloumi fries starter one regular calls the best they have had. Close behind are the mixed grill with peppercorn sauce, called the nicest one a diner had eaten, and the chiabata and garlic focaccia. Cocktails are described as strong, and mocktails as refreshing. Many mention friendly, attentive bar and table staff who stayed upbeat when the pub was busy, and one notes staff took a partner's allergies into account. Several mention the set menu and lunch offers as good value, and a few say portions are generous. The caveats are small but specific. One diner found the chargrilled chicken portion small and the chocolate brownie a tad dry, and another found the busy room too loud even with noise cancelling headphones. One reviewer describes staff going above and beyond after a delay on their wedding day.

“We came as a four here, and there were plenty of tables, with a variety of seating. The food was very nice indeed. I had the garlic focaccia for a starter, which was a garlicky and a very pleasant food to eat. I then had the chargrilled chicken breast with chunky chips for main and they were delicious and fairly tender. For dessert I had a chocolate brownie, which was ok, decent size but nice and hot. Overall, I found the portion size to be a little on the small size and the brownie a tad dry, however couldn't fault the overall experience, with very friendly staff.”

“Had a great time and a big part of that was thanks to the bartender. Madison was super friendly, easy to talk to, and made everyone feel welcome from the start. The drinks were excellent. Even when it got busy, she stayed upbeat, kept things moving smoothly, and still took the time to chat with customers. It’s clear she enjoys what she does, and it really shows in the atmosphere they create. Overall, fantastic service, great drinks, and a genuinely friendly attitude. Looking forward to coming back!”

“Food and service was fantastic, the bar staff were brilliant especially Jack and Maisey who made my time in the Brown Cow very enjoyable. Easily a 5 star review. I would recommend this place to EVERYONE.”

“We came to The Brown Cow tonight (as a couple) after booking a table, and it was absolutely fantastic. The place was really busy with a great atmosphere, and at first I thought we might be waiting ages for food, but the service was excellent throughout. I had the mixed grill with peppercorn sauce, and genuinely think it’s the nicest mixed grill I’ve ever had. Great steak chef! Cooked perfectly and full of flavour. My partner had the battered halloumi and fries which she said was lovely too. The whole team were brilliant. The waitresses were clearly busy but still friendly and attentive. You could see the teamwork throughout the pub and it made for a great experience. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Fantastic food, fantastic atmosphere, and a really hardworking team. Thank you!”
