Customer Review Summary

Seabream is the dish reviewers name most, called delicious by one diner and "beyond delicious" by another who paired it with lamb rump, good wine and cocktails. Close behind, one reviewer calls the venison the best they have had in a long time, another praises the pigs in blankets as "very yorkshire", and a first-ever scotched egg and a burger with chips also earn praise. Reviewers describe the staff as warm, kind and helpful, and the rear beer garden has views of the church, with up to eight real ales and a Leeds bitter mentioned. The main complaint is Sunday dinner. One diner reports meat, roast potatoes and a cauliflower cheese served cold, with the replacement side arriving after the meal was nearly finished. Another describes dry, burnt Yorkshire puddings, cold lumpy mash and a tiny gravy boat even after asking for more. Two reviewers also note limited gluten free options. One reviewer suggests booking for bigger tables at busier times. The replaced cauliflower cheese came from staff who were very apologetic.

“We have been to the Lamb and Flag on many occasions for food and have been really happy with the food. This time we went was not a great experience. We had the Sunday dinner and when it came out it looked as good as it always does, unfortunately the food was very inconsistent with temperature, meat cold, carrots hot, roast potatoes cold, mash potato was like warm, it was just all over the place. We also ordered cauliflower cheese as a side and when it came it was stone cold in the middle and piping hot on the outside. To be fair the staff were very apologetic and took it away to get a fresh one. It came when we had nearly finished our meals and still was not very hot. I have to say this is not the usual standard here but it has put us off. Not great value for money.”

“Lovely food last night and great relaxed atmosphere. Great venue if you want to chat with friends as not noisy. I needed dairy free and gluten free. Although the menu could have been more accommodating for options, once I asked the waitress about my needs they were super helpful. Really good food.”

“I had no idea the food was this decent. We had Seabream and lamb rump, which was beyond delicious. Polished off with good wine and cocktails.”

“This place completely changed my opinion of British cuisine. The food was absolutely amazing!”
  • MADDOGLEP
“It has been about 25 years since my last visit and it is much changed but still a CAMRA Good Beer Guide pub. Up to 8 real ales. Madge chose the Leeds bitter. Lovely rear beer garden with views of the church. Open plan inside.”
