Customer Review Summary
Phở draws the most praise, from the seafood spicy pho with its clean, flavourful broth and generous fried fish pieces to the phở chay, which one vegan reviewer calls full of flavour. Close behind are summer rolls with crispy belly pork, bung ga nurong, cold chicken noodles, Thai drinks and ginger and lemongrass juice. Reviewers also describe friendly staff, quick service, big portions that can go into takeaway pots, and many gluten free options among the curries and phos. The criticism is sharper and sits in two accounts. One diner says staff gave unclear answers about whether the food was halal, laughed off a request to see a certificate, and served prawns in the wrong bowl, with the extra prawn portion judged tiny for its cost. Another says a duck pho was not replaced, a manager spent about ten minutes explaining, and an alternative order was refused. A few others mention bland Singapore noodles and a wrong food order that was quickly fixed.

“Best restaurant in Kingston and best Vietnamese I’ve ever eaten. The staff are so friendly and the service is so quick. They do so many gluten free options (most curries and Pho’s). My partner and I adore it and find ourselves going back almost every week. Highly reccomend”

“I visited this place multiple times with no issue and had great food, company and service. However, in my recent visit, I called the restaurant in advance to enquire if their food is halal as one of our friends was muslim and wanted them to try pho for the first time and thought this was the place to go to as I had no complaints nor issues. The person on the other end of the phone said to me that the chicken and vegan/vegetarian options are halal and I thought cool that’s confirmed. We visited the restaurant on the same day and asked the same question, it was another staff (not on the phone call I was with earlier) and he shrugged his shoulders and laughed to himself as if it were a silly question and walked away. Another colleague of his came up to us and told our group that the chicken and vegetarian and vegan option are halal. From our first impressions, we were suspicious so we asked if we can see their halal certificate, however, the same colleague laughed to himself and walked away. The other colleague sighed and said that they “don’t keep the certificate in the restaurant” which clearly is untrue as many restaurants I go to has the halal certificate on display per request or the halal sticker window display. We were clearly not happy but since our time was already wasted, we ordered the vegan pho anyway for our muslim friend. Our muslim friend wanted to add prawns to her pho and we were told it would be £4 extra and when we were sold the food, the prawns ended up in my dish instead of hers!!! So they took back my dish and hers and they took them out (my dish was not halal as the server had stated so already a contamination and violation of religious practice) and put it in my friend’s dish. The “extra portion of shrimp” being £4, there were only 4 shrimp in the pho, charging us £4 for tiny shrimps! Our muslim friend enquired if this was right and the server came to us saying that they pay 50p per prawn and to make profit they charge a £1 for the prawn and they deemed it appropriate that 4 individual small prawns was worth £4 which was totally unacceptable. They also told us that the prawn was “big” but because it gets cooked “it shrinks”. However, the shrimp was still small so still unhappy with this. If you are asking whether this restaurant is halal or not, it’s definitely not as they did not verify with a halal certificate that their food is halal and laughed in our face about it. My experience was great until this recent visit, I don’t recommend coming here if you require a halal diet and if you want good service.”

“I ate here last week whilst away on business. The food was superb. I ordered summer rolls with crispy belly pork and bung ga nurong. Both dishes absolutely delicious. Will come again when I am next down visiting. Highly recommend.”
