Customer Review Summary
Breakfast and lunch draw most of the praise at The Joyful Deli, with reviewers pointing to the freshly cooked food, the sourdough pizza, the tomato and garlic bread, and a side salad that surpassed expectations. Close behind are the coffee and baked goods, including pistachio cake, scones mentioned as a reason to return, and artisan breads and cakes for sale. Several describe a warm, relaxed welcome, jazz or gentle music in the background, and dogs made to feel at home, while one reviewer calls the tapas evening exquisite. The outdoor area and garden also earn mentions, and one reviewer compares the setting to a taste of Italy. Some travel a long way to visit. Value draws the main complaint. One takeaway cheese salad sandwich was described as mostly bread with a little grated cheese, one lettuce leaf and three slices of tomato, and another visitor found a slice of cake far too expensive. That visitor was also redirected between seating areas and told coffee was not possible, so they settled for tea, juice and two slices of cake.

“Popped in for coffee and cake during a walk the other week. We were initially directed to the garden area towards the back but then told we could only sit at the front if we were only having hot drinks. We were then told that coffee would not be possible… So, we opted for a fruit juice, tea and two slices of cake. The cakes were good but i wished I’d asked how much they were before I’d ordered - £7 is just a bit nuts for a slice of cake! £20 total for two drinks and two slices of cake”

“5 stars all round! What a gem, sat outside for an amazing breakfast in the sun with relaxing music in the background with fantastic service. Also took a look at the idilic back garden which looks set up for Fri & Sat evenings. Looking forward to returning. Highly recommend.”

“We drove from Wakefield to try this deli and we were not disappointed 😍 The ladies who served us went above and beyond, the sourdough pizza was insanely good 😁 the service was impeccable and I can't wait to come back to try the scones.”

“Order a cheese salad sandwich to take away for lunch, first of al the price was £5 and second since when did a salad consist of just one piece of lettuce, 3 slices of tomato and cucumber?? Sorry it was awful 😖 mostly bread with a bit of grated cheese. Would not return or recommend.”
