About Diamonds cafe

Diamonds cafe is a takeout restaurant in Keighley, at 6-8 Cavendish St, open daily and run by a chef with 30 years in the kitchen. Tawa platters come in sizes for 2 or 4, which suits groups sharing a table. The curry menu includes lamb karahi, and the curries come with roti or chapattis. Orders are placed at the till, and a downstairs seating area holds a piano. Payment is cash only.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often come back to the tawa platter, with several ordering it for two or four and still taking food home. Close behind are the chops and the meat masala, and others single out the lamb karahi, chicken masala and lamb curry as authentic and full of flavour. Prices and portions earn repeated praise, and a couple of reviewers describe the value as unbeatable. The service draws mixed comments. Some call the staff excellent, and one says the owner offered tea on the house, while a large group describes a chaotic kitchen, slow dishes arriving in random order, and chicken wings running out without anyone saying so until half the food had landed. Others mention cash only payment with no sign, leaving one visitor to transfer money to the owner's account, plus a cold room, bench seating, and a decor that needs a refresh. One reviewer says a wrap meal deal came with about ten fries and no drink. A reviewer's daughter playing the piano in the dining area turned the visit into a family moment.

“Probably one of the best value for money meals I've had in recent years. Delicious food, such good value. Unfortunately it's cash only and the place could do with a bit of a refresh but honestly for the money you can't knock it. I ordered the lamb karahi which was £7.50 and came with 2 roti or 3 chapattis and meat chops £4.50. the chops tasted nice, a bit tough but if you mix the mint chutney with their house chilli sauce it makes a beautiful dip for the chops.”

“I visited here form my day trip from Leeds. My first visit to here. I ordered the Keema Masala with three chapatis and a can of irn Bru it came with water and salad. I only got two chapatis and went to ask if it comes with another I was handed another chapati but that should of been communicated! Seating are like bench seats so your not right next to the table! Food was falling on my clothes I have a back condition so can't leen forward to long! It was very cold and another customer mentioned this and the staff put on the heating. The good was enjoyable but masala is meant to be little runny sauce. When I went to pay I was told it's cash only I didn't have any everyone else uses card I then had to transfer money to his account. He helped me but was still inconvenient. I said there should be a sign he said it was one on the till but it came off! Well put up another or put a sign on the door communicate this to the customer!”
