Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is the draw most reviewers return to, with the nut roast and the roast beef singled out repeatedly, along with good gravy and great Yorkshire puddings. Close behind are the sharing plates, which diners describe as fresh, piping hot and cooked where they can watch. Several mention friendly, patient staff, and a few say the quality makes it better value than cheaper places, though one notes it is not cheap and another calls it a bit pricey. The sticky toffee pudding was nice but very sweet for one reviewer, and the cocktails and wheat beer get praise. The main complaint comes from one Christmas Eve visit, where three of the four meat dishes had run out, the food felt rushed and average for the price, and the table received no acknowledgement or apology from waiting staff. Several others describe an unhurried pace, and one says a glass of wine recommended by the general manager suited their lunch of sharing platters.

“A small plates restaurant in Ilkley that we recommend everyone to try. The food is outstanding. The service second to none. You can see the food being cooked and it's so fresh. A diamond of a place. Congratulations to the chefs and the management on a superb place to eat.”

“Visited Forde again yesterday lunchtime (10th September). We were greeted by Will , the General Manager, and he looked after us extremely well. We had several of the sharing platters that were all delicious accompanied by some wheat beer that I like there and a glass of wine recommended by Will. Another great lunch at Forde.”

“Gorgeous Sunday roast. All the meat was excellent and the staff were very nice. Especially the young chap who was on his 3rd shift ever. He was nonchalant and attentive. It was £146 for the five of us including 1 child for lunch, drinks and dessert which is obviously not cheap but it was well worth it and we will definitely be revisiting”

“We had Sunday lunch - absolutely faultless in every way. The food was superb, nut roast to die for and perfectly cooked roast beef. Friendly happy staff and a lovely atmosphere. Much better value for money than cheaper places because the quality is so good. We are definitely going back 😋”

“People have recommended we visit for a while. We live 45 minutes away and it was 100% worth the journey! Absolutely fantastic food, drink and service. We eat out very regularly and we could not fault a single thing. You could tell how fresh the high quality food is and it was cooked absolutely perfectly. The menu is fantastic with some amazing food combinations and not a single deep fried thing in sight! We will be visiting again very soon.”

“Horsforth-born Matt Healy, known from MasterChef: The Professionals, is excited to announce he’s expanding with a new restaurant in Ilkley while continuing his work in Horsforth. Matt’s ‘food to swear by’ brand has become a favourite in the Leeds dining scene, earning recognition with a 2024Michelin Plate for the 3rd consecutive year and a mention in The Good Food Guide. Now, he's bringing the same style of modern British cooking to Ilkley. MasterChef judge Marcus Wareing once described Matt’s sauces as “some of the best he had ever tasted,” and Jay Rayner’s review in The Guardian simply stated, “Bloody hell, that’s good” (though not in those exact words).”
