Customer Review Summary

The Sunday roast is the dish reviewers name most, and opinions split on it. One family called it delicious, another found it tasty but small for the price, and a third reports the roast lamb and pork were dry and tough to cut, with most of the lamb left uneaten. Starters draw steadier praise: king prawn thermidor, arancini, goats cheese bon bons, pigs cheek and wings, plus bread with marinated olives and oils, which one diner recommends. Sirloin, pan seared duck breast, crème brûlée and a blood orange cheesecake also get specific mentions. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and attentive, and a few returning diners say the new owners have the place back to its best. One reviewer notes dishes adapt easily to dietary needs. The recurring complaint is the wait, with one table describing a very long delay for mains while later arrivals were served first. Another visitor found the room quiet until a customer played his own music over a speaker, and they left soon after. One couple says the team hosted their wedding reception without further payment.

“We waited a very long time for our food! Over 1 and a half hours for main meals, I had to nip out mid meal and pay for more parking. My son hadn’t had a starter so was very hungry by the time his meal came, he had been watching tables that came in after us get their meals much sooner. My roast lamb dinner was inedible I couldn’t cut the meat let alone chew it, potatoes were tough to cut and very dry. Husbands pork dinner was the same but meat was edible at least. Son’s steak was dry, I thought the chips were very dry. Daughter’s dinner was fine but she said her hummus starter was very salty. My starter wings were delicious and husbands prawns were very nice. My dad was happy with his meal. Staff were helpful and polite other than the very long wait and took my meal off the menu but I’d not even eaten 15% so that was the minimum I’d of expected. We definitely won’t be back, it’s such a shame to waste money on poor quality meals.”

“Delicious meal tonight, attentive staff, beautiful surroundings and great food. The goats cheese Bon Bon’s were really tasty as well as the pigs cheek starter. The blood orange cheesecake was particularly good too. Would definitely recommend”

“Went to Butler Whites recently and honestly had a brilliant meal. I started with the King Prawn Thermidor, which has always been one of my absolute favourite dishes, and Butler Whites is well known for doing it right. It didn’t disappoint at all, rich, packed with flavour, and exactly the reason I keep coming back to it. I also stole a bit of my wife’s Arancini, which were spot on. For my main, I had the Sirloin, cooked exactly how I like it and full of flavour. Then we finished with a Crème Brûlée to share perfect crack on top and properly smooth underneath. The service was great too, friendly, attentive, and they really know the menu, which makes a huge difference to the experience. Overall, I couldn’t recommend Butler Whites enough. Quality food, amazing service, fabulous atmosphere. I’ve had many great experiences here, and it’s great to know that it’s still as good as ever. We will be returning”
