About Bert's Pizza & Gelato Hull
Bert's Pizza & Gelato Hull is a restaurant at 1 @ the Dock in Hull, with views over the rivers Hull and Humber near The Deep. The kitchen bakes stone-baked pizzas in a wood-fired oven, and the pizzas are numbered rather than named. The nduja pizza comes with jalapeños, and dough balls with pesto work as a starter. Homemade artisan gelato is served for pudding, so the meal can run from oven to ice cream under one roof. A gluten free pizza option is on the menu for those who need it. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Wood fired pizza is what most reviewers come for, with the numbered pizzas, the nduja topped with jalapeños and chillies, and generous toppings drawing the most praise. Dough balls with pesto and the wedges rank close behind, and one reviewer notes plenty of dough balls in a portion. Gelato for dessert, the antipasto board, a tuscan sausage sandwich and gluten free pizza options also get mentions, and the kids meal is described as far beyond expectations in portion and quality. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, with food and drinks arriving quickly, and reviewers like the views toward The Deep and the rivers. The caveats center on value and the pizza itself. One diner found the bases good rather than great and not as crispy as hoped, another called the pizzas sloppy enough to need a knife and fork, and two felt the cost was high for the taste. One reviewer was bothered that extra sauces were charged only when it came time to pay. One family was seated on high stools and would have preferred a regular table, and a handwritten leftovers box left one diner delighted.

“Excellent food from start to finish. Pizzas were fresh and full of flavour, cold pints, and friendly service throughout. Well worth a visit.”

“Stumbled across Bert's by chance when in the area with my family (2x adults, 1x 3 yo and 1x under one). We walked in and were greeted by a friendly staff member who sat us down straight away, another member of staff took our drinks order after a couple of minutes and then even moved us to another table without issue when two more adults joined our party. Food was ordered and brought out without delay and it was fantastic! Great choice, great pizzas, great staff, great facilities, great gelato tops this off. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, and we'll be back when we're next in Hull.”

“Came here with a friend and just ordered the kids meal but it was far beyond my expectations in terms of portion and quality for only £10 each. Staff were wonderful and regularly checking in on us. Would definitely reccomend as a nice meal out for anyone. There is also a stunning view of The Deep nearby which is a nice compliment to the gorgeous and clean interior.”

“Wonderful wood-fire pizza, including great options for gluten free pizza! Excellent gelato too for pudding, faultless. Lovely place to stop after a visit to the Deep!”

“Me and my son ate here on 17/1/26 after our visit to The Deep and we really enjoyed it. I got the nduja pizza and my son had the tuscan sausage sandwich. I really like my pizzas spicy and this one did not disappoint. It was covered in jalapeños/chillies which I absolutely love. My son really enjoyed his sandwich too 👌 We also got 2 scoops of ice cream on the way out which was also lovely. Staff were really friendly and attentive too. The only reason I've knocked a star off for atmosphere is because we were seated at a higher table on stools, and would've preferred a regular table and chairs. We will definitely eat here again on our next visit!”
