Customer Review Summary
Friendly, polite staff are the most repeated draw, and one reviewer was served quickly with a smile even when the café was busy. The food comes next. Diners name a mushroom and aubergine slice, broccoli and cheddar soup, a pot of Yorkshire tea and an oat latte, and several call the prices reasonable and the presentation beautiful. A few also like the location attached to the Minster and its warm, cosy atmosphere. The two lowest reviews describe a very different visit. One reviewer waited a long while for two ham and cheese toasties after a bread swap and received them burnt, with barely any ham and no butter, and felt there was no effort in the service. Another got a burnt toastie and a jacket potato that was cold in the middle. Against that, one diner praised the soup's hot roll, which melted the butter.

“had a really disappointing experience at this café. I ordered a jacket potato and a toastie, and both were poorly prepared. The jacket potato was cold in the middle, like it had either been sitting around for a long time or not heated properly. The toastie was the opposite problem it was completely burnt What concerned me even more was the hygiene. I saw the staff member handling food with her bare hands, and she had just been touching other dirty things around the café before touching the food again without washing her hands or using gloves. That made me feel pretty uncomfortable about eating there. Overall the food quality and hygiene standards were not what I’d expect from a place serving food to customers. I won’tl be returning and I’d suggest improvements are made to both food preparation and cleanliness.”

“Ordered 2 ham and cheese toasties on brown bread ,after waiting 20 mins and ordering another latte,we was told it would have to be in white bread, she took out the toast and after finishing a private conversation with a customer we was served 2 burnt toasties, non existent ham,no butter, it didn't even stick together, this cafe was great we used to go regularly, unfortunately we will not be going again, I heard her say to the other staff that it hasn't been the busiest, god help them when it is,massive disappointment, absolutely no effort where service is concerned.”
