About Cafe Culture Of Hull

On Carr Lane in Hull, Cafe Culture Of Hull runs as a sit-down cafe where you order at the counter and take a table, with no bookings taken. The menu stretches well beyond light bites, moving from small plates and snacks through to more substantial meals, so a quick coffee and a full sit-down lunch both work here. Coffee and baked goods fill out the counter alongside the kitchen offering. Seating is plentiful, with room to park a pushchair beside a table, and high chairs suit families eating out with young children. A step-free entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without a kerb or stair to negotiate. The cafe trades through the day from Monday to Saturday and stays closed on Sundays, so it suits breakfast, mid-morning and lunchtime visits rather than evening ones.

Customer Review Summary

The negatives are sharper and come mostly from past regulars. One says the food has declined since a change of ownership, the kitchen is no longer visible, and portions have become stingy. That reviewer also describes being repeatedly told at the table about a small refund owed before they had ordered. Another reports a long wait and miserable staff despite good food. A third describes a double cooked burger as hard as leather, a tuna mayo with more butter than tuna, and a can of coke served without a glass, with meals arriving at different times.

“Was miles better when Emilo had it. He had an open kitchen, since this lady got it she made it so we cannot see the kitchen at all. we can’t see how clean it is behind there. also i was a customer for 4/5 years and she accidentally refunded me 2 pound and when i came back in to eat again, she kept coming to the table saying we owe 2 pound and we hadn’t even ordered yet. Food has gone down hill massively and it’s always dead in here now. Very very stingy with food now and we never returned after she jumped down our neck about 2 pound. I hope the 2 pound was worth it cause she lost our custom forever ☺️ We now go and enjoy brunch and brew, which is a lot more cleaner, open kitchen fresher food and lovely staff.”

“Delicious home cooked food at a reasonable price and in my opinion the best cappuccinos in town. Also the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Give it a try - you wont be disappointed…….”

  • Anne Marie Stagg
“A very warm and welcoming cafe with a very comprehensive menu, located close to the station, town centre etc I’ve often passed and noticed how busy it always seems to be and it was the same on the day that I visited. The food is piping hot, very tasty and arrives quickly. Good prices. There’s plenty of room for pushchairs etc.”
