About ASDA Cafe
ASDA Cafe is a cafe inside an Asda store on Hessle Road in Hull, open daily. Pizza is made from scratch at the counter, where usually one member of staff works. The food offer also includes a full English breakfast and panini. Hot chocolate, tea and coffee are served, and self-service drink machines include an espresso coffee machine. Food is not served in the late afternoon, and the cafe closes earlier than the closing time shown on its signs.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers mostly describe a cafe where unfriendly staff set the tone, with several noting grumpy faces, no smile, and a worker reorganising tins while a customer waited to pay. Food draws the next most complaints: a panini that did not taste nice, a lukewarm full English with small portions, and cold toast on which the butter would not melt. Stock and equipment problems recur too, including no pizza bases, no cake beyond one old slice, no mince pies, a soft drink dispenser not working, and a self-service coffee machine where only one of two worked and gave only espresso. Tables were called filthy, and one reviewer reports staff handling food with bare hands after cleaning. A vegan customer found staff unable to help with anything not on the menu. One early-morning visitor found the space clean and had a good breakfast. Another ordered a hot chocolate and got no cream, despite a large poster showing one topped with cream.

“Asda Cafe on Hessle Road - food not up to standard, hygiene of staff a concern, handling food with bare hands after cleaning, coffee machine not working, staff bickering, did not know how to issue a refund, will not be returning.”

“Thought I was have a bite to eat here while I had some time, don’t bother and waste your money, the panini didn’t taste very nice, the staff are rude, I was waiting to pay, the staff member was more focused at re organising the metal tins and ignoring me, took her 10 mins to put the panini into the cooker this was at 12:10pm in the afternoon, just me in the cafe, staff are rude, don’t waste your time.”

“Disgusting cold food, even the toast was cold as the butter wouldn't melt on it, bacon needed a steak knife to cur, 20 quid for the worst breakfast I've had in 50 years”

“Absolutely shocking ! Out of stock of most things ordered a hot chocolate and no cream to go on the top despite a huge poster showing a hot chocolate with cream No cake apart from one manky bit that had been sitting ages no mince pies Staff can’t be bothered or they are just to embarrassed to be working there No wonder the place is empty Very bad reflection on Asda”
