Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often come back to the Sunday dinner, with the lamb and the chicken takeaway both described as homemade, generously portioned and cooked well, and the gravy singled out as delicious. Close behind are the homemade cakes, which several say they can't keep away from, and one reviewer who was too full to try them says they looked gorgeous. Others name the lasagna and prawn cocktail with chips, garlic bread and a salad dressed with pomegranate, the massive sandwiches, the coffee, and an English breakfast one reviewer calls their favorite in Hull. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and prices are described as very good value. One reviewer who felt anxious about walking into a regular's spot says they were greeted like a friend and found the seating comfy. A reviewer who brought their dog says it was given a sausage on the house. Another notes that low-star reviews apply to the previous owners. No recurring complaint appears in the reviews.

“The place is small but WOW ehat a DIAMOND! My people! Cafe 45 thoroughly deserves its stars. The low star reviews apply to the old owners. A proper English family with proper food like granny used to make. Real ingredients. A personal gastronomical treat. Never dissapoints. Well done everyone Karen H”

“This was our first visit to Chants Bar for Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly on our arrival and the service was excellent. We both had the lamb option, with freshly cooked vegetables (cabbage, carrots, sprouts and mash), home made Yorkshire pudding, sausage, gravy, stuffing and gravy. Mint sauce was also served. The portions were generous and very filling! The cafe itself is well-appointed and has the atmosphere of being an important part of the local community. One of the locals was very chatty and it was nice to be able to interact with a senior person who was clearly a regular diner and was a great advocate for Chants 45. The food is great value for money and is a diner which has to be experienced. A wide range of delicious cakes, pastries and drinks are also available.”
