About The County
The County is a traditional pub in Hull, on the corner of Francis Street at 73-75 Francis St. The large bar room holds a pool table where pool is just 50p, and the pub has darts as well as pool tables. Behind the bar, cask conditioned Banks's Bitter is served on hand pumps, and Theakstons Mild is on tap. Football is shown on TV, so the bar room doubles as a place to watch a match. The pub also runs a karaoke night with a DJ.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the welcome at The County, a traditional Hull pub where the staff and landlord are called friendly and the regulars are described as just as warm. Karaoke comes up close behind, with one visitor from out of area enjoying a sing-along and a supportive DJ. Pool is also mentioned, including 50p games, alongside darts. On the drinks side, reviewers name cask Banks bitter on hand pumps and Theakstons Mild on tap, and one notes a pint kept well with clean lines. Several describe it as proper, old school and traditional, one saying it is just how pubs were 50 years ago, another contrasting it with modern gastro places and mentioning cold pints and the footy on. A secluded outdoor seating area gets a mention too. One diner had dinner with friends and found the food cooked perfectly with generous portions. No recurring complaint appears in the reviews. The most vivid detail is a visitor who ended up singing a duet with a stranger and said the evening made their trip to Hull.

“Proper boozer. None of that modern gastro rubbish, just cold pints, decent crack, and the footy on. Landlord is sound as a pound.”

“Called in for a quick bevvy after work. Pint was kept proper and lines clearly clean. Lass behind the bar was dead canny. Will definitely drop back in.”

“Really welcoming down-to-earth pub. We were made so welcome despite being out of area. Had such a laugh with the locals and really enjoyed the karaoke. Thanks to my acquired singing partner, 'Kenny Rogers' and the non judgemental, supportive karaoke dj. The evening made our visit to Hull. I wish the new owner every success as this place, the staff and the locals deserve it. Thanks all. 😍 " In the County..... you can have a good sing, as well as a drink, and a few games of darts, and pool tables pink" 🎤 🎶 🎤”

“From the moment we stepped through the doors of The County Pub, we weren’t just welcomed — we were made to feel like long-lost family returning home! The warmth here isn’t just a nice touch… it’s absolutely legendary. The staff? Friendliness doesn’t even cover it — they are the heart and soul of proper Hull hospitality! Every single team member beams with genuine joy, greets you like they’ve been waiting just for you, and looks after you so wonderfully it honestly feels like you’re the most important person in the whole city. This is exactly what Hull hospitality is famous for — big, open hearts, ready smiles, and kindness that wraps right around you like a warm hug! We were chatted to, looked after, laughed with, and treated with such incredible generosity and care it honestly took my breath away. Nothing was ever too much trouble — absolutely nothing! Every request met with “aye, no problem at all, lovely!” and delivered with that wonderful, unmistakable Hull warmth. The regulars were just as wonderful too — saying hello, sharing a smile, making space, welcoming you in like you belonged right there. That’s the magic of The County Pub — it isn’t just a place to drink, it’s pure, unfiltered Hull hospitality at its absolute best! If you want to experience what makes Hull folk truly special — come here. Friendliness? Off the scale. Welcome? Second to none. I’d give more stars if I could — thank you all for making us feel so incredibly special! 💛”
