About Hop & Vine
Hop & Vine is a micropub in Hull, set in a basement cellar bar at 24 Albion St and reached by a flight of steps. The bar pours changing guest ales and real cider, including real scrumpy, with draught Pilsner Urquell alongside. The spirits list covers gins, whiskies and rums. There is no TV, only light background music, which suits a pub built around conversation. The landlord and bar staff chat with customers as they serve, and regulars often talk with visitors. Dogs are welcome. Food is limited to cheese and biscuits, and Hop & Vine merchandise, such as key rings, is on sale at the bar. The pub sits close to Hull railway station.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the real ales, praising a top class selection of cask ales and, on one visit, three beers in excellent condition, including a stout. Real cider comes close behind, with one regular calling it a good selection and another praising the real scrumpy. Spirits and craft beers get a mention too, and several describe the prices as cheap or good. The welcome is a constant theme. The landlord, staff and regulars chat with newcomers, there is no TV, and the music is light, with one visitor enjoying the alternative Christmas playlist. The trade-offs are practical. A few note the pub is tucked away in a basement and could easily be missed, and one mentions steps down into the cellar. Food is limited, with cheese and biscuits the only option on one visit. One traveller stayed two hours longer than planned, and another left with a Hop & Vine key ring.

“Loved it so much I bought the merchandise - now a proud owner of the Hop & Vine key ring! Owner Tony and Kelly were both wonderful hosts, and made it a pleasure to visit. Very much a pub for conversation, no TV on , some light background music. Friendly locals who are happy to chat. 3 different beers on my visit, all in excellent condition. Loved the Thunderbridge Stout at very reasonable £4.20, circa 180 THB for a 5.2% beer.”
