About The Bank Hull

The Bank Hull is a single-room pub on Holderness Rd in Hull, set in a large former TSB bank building. Karaoke is part of the entertainment, and a live singer or live music takes the floor on some nights, so the room gives regulars and locals a place to sing along or just listen. At the bar, one cask real ale, Newsome, sits alongside beer, cider and lager, and Guinness is also on offer. A pool table gives customers something to play between rounds. The pub advertises its events on Facebook.

Customer Review Summary

Karaoke nights are what reviewers mention most, with several describing a warm welcome, a laugh with the regular crowd, and a night of people of different ages enjoying themselves without trouble. One visitor came for a live artist on a Friday and returned on Saturday so a partner could sing. Reviewers repeatedly call the staff friendly and welcoming, and a few say they felt like regulars by the end of the night. Close behind is the drink: one reviewer calls the Guinness arguably the best in the area, another praises a Newsome cask conditioned real ale, and prices are described as very reasonable. The building is a large former bank with a pool table and outside seating. On the downside, one reviewer says the pub can be pretty quiet on weekday afternoons, and that the cask ale selection is limited to one, with quality a bit hit-or-miss. Another reviewer describes being banned after a family member's actions in the pub. One couple said the five hour journey was worth every hour.

“Usually lively on a weekend, Kareoke or a live singer on. Nice sized old style pub, plenty of seating inside and out and loads of characters from near and far. Check them out on Facebook and get to see what's what with the kareoke”

“Came here to listen to the artist on friday night, great atmosphere, very friendly people. We also came back on the saturday for my partner to sing on the karaoke. Great atmosphere, no trouble, just everyone enjoying themselves. It took us 5 hours to travel up to the bank, but I must say it was worth every hour of travelling, will definitely be back n3xt year.”

“My mum did something wrong in the pub and I got banned for it but I didn't even do anything I like the pub to and now I can't believe I can not go”

“The Bank is a lovely little pub. The building is impressive, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the drinks are very reasonably priced . It's got a real community feel, and you can tell the regulars look out for each other . If you're after a relaxing pint and a chat in a proper local, this is a great spot. However, don't come here expecting a bustling nightlife hub. It's a small, one-room pub, and it can be pretty quiet, especially on weekday afternoons . They do have live music and karaoke, but the vibe is generally low-key and friendly rather than wild and crazy. Also, if you're a real ale fanatic, the selection is limited to just one cask ale, and its quality can be a bit hit-or-miss . If you're looking for a place to have a great chat with friendly locals and enjoy a cheap, well-kept pint, you'll love it. If you're after a huge, lively venue with lots of beer choice, you might find it a bit small.”
  • Jackie Watson
“Great little pub full of friendly, welcoming people. This was our second visit and karaoke was on, we didn't sing but there was a couple of really talented people - and some that weren't... We had a laugh with the group sitting next to us and felt really at home. Prices were very reasonable too.”
