About The Bells of St Mary's

The Bells of St Mary's is a stone-built pub in Prestatyn on Clwyd, part of the Stonehouse family in North Wales. Staff serve the carvery and roasts from behind the counter. The kitchen also makes pizza and a ham hock and cheddar pie with mashed potato and green beans. A 3-course set menu is on offer, and breakfast is served too. Pizza parties for kids give families a way to celebrate a birthday or occasion over a meal. The bar pours drinks, and some tables sit beside a fireplace. Walk-ins are seated without a reservation, and tables can also be booked by phone ahead of a visit. Dogs are welcome here, and the team brings water to the table.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the staff, describing friendly, attentive service from the hosts, the bar and the carvery team. One host found a table for two on a busy Sunday without a booking, and another brought a birthday banner and seated a party of ten by the fireplace. On the food side, a longtime regular praises the ham hock and cheddar pie with mashed potato and green beans. Others name the pizza, the carvery, the three course set menu and the breakfast mushrooms. A few describe the atmosphere as quiet, relaxed and chilled. The recurring caveat is availability. Two visitors found a few menu and bar items unavailable, though the woman at the bar offered alternatives and one party still enjoyed their choices. One diner also felt the carvery's high-stacked plates encourage excess. A breakfast visitor's three sausage dogs were brought their own water at the table.

“My wife and I turned up on a busy Sunday afternoon without a reservation, the host was a delight and managed to find us a table for 2 without hesitation. She greeted us like old friends and made sure we felt most welcome. The guys behind the carvery were full of life and adding a very upbeat vibe to the atmosphere. A very pleasant experience with exceptional service.. and the food is banging! 10/10 would highly recommend.”

“Came for breakfast and was not disappointed. Can't lie it was the tastiest breakfast I've had all week in Wales them mushrooms are to die for. Music on but at the perfect volume that it doesn't disturb conversations. Our 3 sausage dogs were welcome too and even got their own water brought to the table. Awesome place. If I wasn't going home I'd definitely be coming back. Great work guys you're doing yourselves proud !!”

“Came here for my husbands 60th as staying in nearby caravan park. Rang up day before to book a table for 10. A fabulous lady Donna was so helpful and friendly. She even brought a bday banner to put on the table and a sign and gave us a lovely spot by a fireplace. Nothing was a problem and she checked with us regularly. Everyone really enjoyed their choices even tho a few options werent available. Staff are great .would defo recommend and come again.”
