About The Life and Soul Kitchen

Run as a charity cafe, The Life and Soul Kitchen gives young people with disabilities the chance to build confidence and work experience while serving breakfast and lunch, and it sits inside the Maylords shopping centre off Station Rd in Hereford. The kitchen works to a daytime pattern, opening Monday to Friday with Wednesdays closed alongside the weekend. No booking is taken, so customers simply walk in and order. The setting is small, with an outdoor space alongside the indoor seating for anyone who wants to eat outside. Families with young children have high chairs and an indoor play area, and there is entertainment for children both inside and out. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without a kerb or stair, and dogs are welcome to come along.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the freshly made food at breakfast and lunch, with great portion sizes and a chocolate cheesecake singled out as delicious. Close behind are the staff, described as warm, friendly and welcoming. Reviewers also value that this charity cafe gives young people with disabilities a chance to gain confidence and independence. The space is called calm, relaxed and spotless, and several mention a kids play area inside, an outdoor space, and a welcome for dogs. The one clear complaint comes from a reviewer who found two baps disappointing: tough, very dry white baguettes while other tables got soft rolls, sausages that were not nice, and two drinks too sweet to finish. That reviewer still found the staff nice, if a little inexperienced. Others describe quick service, and one says the staff went through the menu with them, explaining the options.
