About Redbarn Cafe Hereford

Redbarn Cafe Hereford is a cafe on Red Barn Dr in Hereford, built around an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet where guests choose their own items and build their own plates. Eggs are cooked to order, fried or poached, and scrambled eggs sit alongside them. Tinned tomatoes go on the plate instead of grilled ones. Tea and coffee come with refills, and toast is available. Tea is served as a mug with a tea bag for self-service, and the brand is Yorkshire tea. Away from the buffet, the menu lists katsu loaded fries and a smash burger with bacon. The cafe is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary

Breakfast draws most reviewers, especially the option to build a plate, with fried or poached eggs cooked to order and tinned tomatoes in place of grilled, which one reviewer loves. Several describe it as piping hot with friendly, fast service, and the buffet's refills of tea, coffee and squash get a mention. Close behind are the katsu loaded fries and fajita wraps, and one diner calls the smash burger with bacon next level. Generous portions and reasonable prices come up repeatedly. The complaints centre on the food and some staff manner. One reviewer found the bacon overcooked and rock hard, with cheap-tasting sausages and hash browns. Another describes a long wait for tea and coffee, an abrupt server, a dry buffet, and being handed a mug with a tea bag to help themselves. A one-star review notes a chicken burger arrived without the lettuce and coleslaw it was meant to have. Another first-time visitor recalls a staff member offering to cook two fried eggs within seconds of arriving.

“Waited nearly 25 minutes for a cup of tea and coffee. Went to ask the ginger woman who was abrupt and slightly rude to be honest. Was told she's making it. After the wait in all her wisdom, I was handed a mug with a tea bag in it to "help myself". Really?.... could of handed me the mug at the till... 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️Greasy spoon basically. Foul. Sausage is no more than 15% pork. Just recooked slop. Bacon cheap and fatty. Eggs look like they are from the fallout at Fukushima. Buffet was dry and sub par. Couldn't eat it. However the tea I made was banging.... Yorkshire tea. That's the only thing you got right. Also the only reason 2 stars where given. And I did the work lol Honestly I wouldn't bother. Maybe my standards are a little higher than the ones leaving 5 star reviews. But at least a smile or not being rude would help eliminate the feeling of having my extremities fingered by a greasy, expensive, sausage finger...”

“ould post: I had breakfast here today and was really hoping it would be a great experience. The staff were friendly, the service was good, and the atmosphere was lovely, making it a nice place to sit and relax. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the rest of the experience. The bacon was very overcooked and rock hard, the sausages and hash browns tasted quite cheap, and the chef’s ladder breakfast wasn’t as enjoyable as I’d expected. It was disappointing because everything else about the place was so good. That said, everyone can have an off day, so I won’t judge it on just one visit. Because the service and atmosphere were so good, I’m happy to give it another try in the future and hope the food is much better next time. With a few improvements to the breakfast, this could easily be a place I’d recommend”

“My first visit to the Red Barn Cafe 30 minutes ago. Within 20 seconds of me going to choose my breakfast a really kind member of staff offered to cook me two fried eggs which were delicious. Amazing food, wonderful & friendly staff! This is the place to go for breakfast and there is a large variety of other food available. Absolutely 100% recommend this Cafe.”
