About Cafe Ascari

Cafe Ascari is a family-run cafe and breakfast restaurant at 11-14 West St in Hereford, and the same family has run it for decades. Full English breakfast is served all day, and hash browns and mushrooms can be added as extras. The menu continues with a sausage bap and a half chicken with chips and peas, for those who want something other than breakfast. A cake selection and cream scones sit alongside coffee, served as a latte, a cappuccino or by the mug. The restaurant is large and has one small toilet. It is open daily, daytime only.

Customer Review Summary

The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the full English had a single sausage, tough bacon and a tomato barely cooked, and a bacon and brae panini with hardly any bacon. Another found the big breakfast with added hash brown and mushrooms really greasy, and the half chicken overcooked and dry. Several question prices, citing extra charges for mushrooms and hash browns on a breakfast already at the higher end and a mug of coffee they felt was dear. Two reviewers mention only one small toilet in a large restaurant, and one gave up waiting and left.

“Not visited Ascaris for any years. Lots more seating since I was last there. Service was quick, latte coffee was hot which I like and menu is quite extensive at reasonable prices. I only had a sausage bap but they do all day breakfast and a good range of other dishes.”

“We were really disappointed we had the big breakfast with added hash brown and mushrooms which unfortunately was really greasy. I was really disappointed. My partner had half chicken chips and peas and chips and peas were great. The chicken was overcooked and dry. She was also disappointed it used to be a really great place to eat out.”

“I dont normally like doing bad reviews and we use to live going to Ascari but standards have definitely dropped..Ordered a full English was surprised at £9 to only have one sausage thats just your bog standard, the bacon was tough as old boots and could hardly cut it, tomato that literally went over the pan on stilts, beans and egg were ok..just did not look or taste what you woukd expect for £9 very bare plate of food... My wife had a Bacon and Brae Panini she opened it up and we struggled to even find any bacon, the brae was a giid amount...Coffee is coffee, but for £25 it was really lacking...Notvsure what has changed but its deffo gone down hill on the food side yet asking more for it..the staff are always friendly and I can not complain about the service...there's inky 1 toilet and I gave up after waiting an age, so we left, really disappointed how this has gone as it use to be a nice treat, but sadly we probably would not go back, yes I could have complained but its better for people to make there on conclusion....I dont even like doing these reviews but if people dont voice their opinion then things never change.”

“Cafe Ascari, does great coffee, lunches and snacks. I had the baked potato with beans, scummy. Nice cake selection also. All served efficiently by the team. The only downside, just 1 small toilet in a large restaurant.”
