About CSONS
A floor-to-ceiling window wall gives CSONS, a cafe and restaurant at The Pavilion in Hereford, elevated views over the River Wye, and window seats can be requested when you arrive or book. The menu runs to 119 dishes, split into small plates, mains and sides so groups can share and work through several at once. Named plates include The Csons, The Salopian and The C Dog, alongside Neil Powell back bacon and sausage. Desserts feature a rhubarb and custard tart and a blueberry lemon bread and butter pudding, while cakes and coffee carry the daytime. The kitchen and floor run on table service, and the team will point out dishes from the menu if asked. Tables can be booked in advance, though walk-ins have been seated without one. Dogs are welcome, and the doors open daily. The dining room has no air conditioning.

Customer Review Summary
The floor to ceiling window wall overlooking the River Wye is what diners raise most, with several requesting a window seat and describing the elevated view as the standout feature. The small plates format runs close behind, repeatedly praised as a way for groups to try several dishes, and desserts draw their own specific praise, including a rhubarb and custard tart and a blueberry lemon bread and butter pudding that one couple couldn't fault. Food is variously called fresh, gorgeously presented and full of flavour, and most describe the staff as friendly and helpful with recommendations. Service is where the reviews split. One diner details walking in without a greeting, waiting while staff passed by, never being checked on during the meal and having to flag someone down for drinks, though they credited one server as pleasant. Another pair found their mains and side dish under seasoned and too sweet, and noted the room felt hot with no apparent air conditioning, saying they would return for daytime cakes and coffee rather than an evening meal.

“This was our first time visiting Csons, for an anniversary meal. On first appearances it is a lovely setting for a restaurant. We requested a window seat and this is clearly one of the best features with the big floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river. Although I can imagine it gets incredibly hot as they didn't appear to have air conditioning. The service was good and the servers very friendly and welcoming. I'm afraid it misses a star on the actual mains. Both me and my partner felt that our mains, and side dish, lacked seasoning and any real heat or punchy flavours. They looked incredible but were both almost too sweet and not salty enough. The deserts were great though. The rhubarb and custard tart and the blueberry lemon bread and butter pudding were both delicious. Couldn't fault them. I would definitely return for cakes/coffee during the day but probably not an evening meal.”
