Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the friendly staff, with coffee and cakes close behind. Several praise an almond cappuccino, a caramel coffee frappe and a cheese toastie, and others mention fresh traditional sandwiches, jacket potato and a good tea and coffee choice. The cakes and cookies on display get repeated praise, with one reviewer calling the almond croissant cookie great in texture but a little too sweet, with an overpowering almond essence. Another notes that the two permanent staff are polite and helpful, while the part time staff are not as polite, friendly or helpful. The cafe is described as nicely decorated, with a seating area outside and a secluded patio at the back. Several stop in near the hospital or on the way to the bus or train, and regulars describe meeting friends there over coffee and cake.

“Fab cafe near the hospital. Lovely staff. Great tea and coffee choice and loads of lovely cake (other food options available! 🤣). Nice secluded patio area at the back to enjoy in the sun.”

“Friendly and inclusive, the fabulous team at No.76 provide the local community with lovely food and great service. For over a year I have been visiting with a friend and nothing is too much trouble for Tina, Deanna and Jenny. Thank you ladies for all you do.”

“Lovely little cafe on London Rd. Had some time to kill before a hospital appointment and ordered a caramel coffee frappe and almond croissant cookie. I’ve ordered a cheese toastie in the past which was tasty. Great atmosphere, tastefully decorated and you’re supporting local businesses by eating there. The staff are friendly and service is great. Good choice of toasties, sandwiches, jacket potato and sweet treats. Lovely cakes/desserts on display that you’re spoilt for choice. There’s a lovely seating area outside which is great when the weather is nice. Frappe was really nice and sugar was just right for me. The cookie had a great texture, but was a little too sweet for me and the almond essence was a little overpowering. However, I would definitely come back again to try something new 💜”

“No.76 Coffee and Confectionery - focuses on serving top quality fresh ethically sourced coffee, locally made cakes and other snacks. We also offer a range of traditional sweets, which, like our cakes, is inclusive to a broad range of dietary requirements. We are dog friendly too! Our aim is to support sustainability wherever we can particularly with our packaging & take out cups. We operate a pay forward scheme so that we can help support local families and older people. Any contribution is very gratefully received. Our venue is situated at 76 London Road and was formerly The York public house. We have refurbished the building extensively and the decor and ambience is superb. A warm welcome awaits all our customers!”
