Quick info
About Bake & Brew
Bake & Brew is an independent coffee shop in Gloucester, on St Lukes House at Gloucester Docks. It is twinned with Brew & Bake on Bath Road in Cheltenham. The cakes, slices and brownies are made in-house and often sell out, and they can be boxed to take home. Savouries include sausage rolls, and the breakfast and lunch menu runs from a veggie breakfast to a full English. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available. Coffee is served alongside smoothies and iced latte. The interior is small with limited seating, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers mostly come for the homemade cakes and bakes, with the brownies, slices and sausage and veggie rolls singled out, and one reviewer notes the sweet treats often sell out. Coffee draws praise as hot, tasty and fantastic, including a good iced latte and a latte with a swirly pattern on top, though one reviewer calls it above average but says better coffee is available elsewhere. Close behind is breakfast, with a veggie breakfast and a full English mentioned, plus smoothies and a wide range that includes vegetarian and gluten-free choices. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and smiley, and several mention quick service. The main caveat is limited seating, which one reviewer links to the shop's popularity near the docks. Another found the egg, halloumi and hash browns overcooked and charred on one visit, while allowing it might be a one-off. One reviewer took a box of cakes home after trying a few drinks.

“I was walking through Gloucester Quays with Gilbert, my friend, who just happens to be a giraffe 🦒. We were both in need of refreshment and noticed the Bake & Brew establishment, with its "dogs welcome" sign. I enquired if this also applied to Gilbert and they indicated that all animals of the non-bitey type could enter. One small problem was poor Gilbert was too tall to fit through the door. The helpful and friendly staff mentioned that a local builder 👷♀️ would be sought to carry out the necessary door heightening. Thanks ladies. Lovely latte served with what appeared to be a (I'd like to be, under the sea, in an) Octopus (es garden) as an unusual, never been seen before, swirly on the top. Delicious looking pastries and cakages available as well as cooked food. I asked a customer if I take take a picture 📸 of his full English but was denied. What a meany! tbh, as the youth write these days, although I still prefer the 'To be honest' old-styllee version, Gloucester Quays is rammed with decent munchy places. Bake & Brew is one of the best, and Gilbert 🦒 who enjoyed his vegetarian snack outside in the glorious sunshine 🌞, agreed with me. Next time we visit he'll be joining me at an inside table. Thank you B & B bods, you're every bit as good as your 'Nam Bath Road branch.”
