About The Grove Fish & Chips
On Argyle St in Glasgow, The Grove Fish & Chips is a fish and chips takeaway at number 1092 that breads its fish to order. The fish supper sits beside a haggis supper, so the menu covers both a fried fish order and a Scottish chip shop staple. For something sweeter or less expected, the kitchen also fries a Mars bar and a pizza in the same deep fried style. Making the fish to order means each portion is breaded when it is requested rather than prepared in advance. The team works from a small shop, so this is a counter-style stop for collecting food rather than a place to sit down.

Customer Review Summary
Fish suppers draw the most comment, and opinions split. One diner found the fish clean and flavourful, with chips that had a bit of crunch. Another got cold, soft, tasteless batter, and a third rated the fish only a 3. Chips divide reviewers too: some call them incredibly well cooked, while others found them dry and rubbery. Close behind are the other suppers. A sausage supper earned praise for crispy batter and a juicy sausage, though another reviewer found theirs not fresh and spat it out. One diner had the haggis supper on each of three visits, and the mince pie is described as always spot on. Fried mars bars and deep fried pizza get mentions, and staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful. One reviewer who was let down by the standard fish noted that the breaded special, made to order, was much better.

“Seriously would of gave them 0 stars...I no they don't answers reviews. But this was really as bad as it gets. Order the sausage supper. Ask little vinegar n salt. N red sauce. Took to work. Had 2 bites or the sausage spat it out. Dont look fresh what so ever. The chips weren't great either. Can see why ther always empty...go elsewhere people Seriously”

“The service was friendly but I can't give the fish more than 3 and the chips more like 2 stars, dry and rubbery. Not worth £18.70 for two suppers but sadly our favourite chippie has closed so we're having to shop around.”

“Came to visit Glasgow starting on the 15th and leaving shortly. I can now confidently say this is my favorite chip shop in the city. Service is fast and friendly. I had the sausage supper with 2 sauages, pictured below (one sausage didn't make it to the photo bc it was too delicious to not eat straight away), and it was incredible. Crispy batter with a juicy sausage inside. Chips were incredibly well cooked, not over or under as with some others we tried. Keep up the great work, Grove team, and my girlfriend and I will surely see you on our next trip to Glasgow.”
