  “Booked in advance and glad we did. Place buzzing on Saturday even around 5.00pm. Great atmosphere. We had a fine wee alcove perfect for 2. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was freshly made, well presented and tasted great. Big thanks to all concerned. PS No beer, only lager. That WAS a surprise for Senior citizens!!”

  “Just Been in for food, well done relaxed pub grub and the tattie scone tacos especially were delicious. £5.50 for a Tennents is very reasonable in the west end and even more so £5.80 for a Guinness seems very very good value. Good pints and good food at a reasonable price.”

  “We came to Islay for a late lunch while wandering through town. Great atmosphere and wait staff was fantastic. The food was really tasty as were the drinks. Pricing and portions were perfectly reasonable. Highly recommend a stop in if you are in the area. Don't let the current construction deter you!”

  “Visited with a friend visiting the city & she said it was the best meal she'd had since arriving. She had the Lamb & i had the Angus Burger with parmesan truffle fries. Both were delicious. The dubai chocolate pistachio cookie dessert was out of this world, looked heavy but was so light. Staff friendly as always, efficient service, reasonable prices for high quality food, great food & drinks selection & great atmosphere as always. Also took my dog with us & was offered water bowl & treat as soon as we arrived, plus he got lots of attention which he loves. Thanks for a great meal.”

  “Came here for the Thursday steak and frites deal and it did not disappoint! The steak was cooked perfectly and was not chewy at all. Great portion too”

  “Went at lunch time and had a great and superb tasting venison burger accompanied by amongst the best chips I have ever eaten. As the all the meals are cooked from scratch I decided to skip the starter and had absolutely no room for the desert which means I will have to revisit to sample the desert treats. Looking forward to that.”

  “There has been a pub on site since 1871 and it kinda feels like that. Welcoming staff, comfy booths and quite the whiskey selection. The food is great and the have deals regularly. There are tasting nights that are attended by other bar staff, which is a testament. Sunday brunch is a treat as well. A few tables outside for the sunny days, but always a warm reception when visiting the Inn.”

  “We had an absolutely fantastic meal at The Islay Inn. The food was stunning – every dish was full of flavour and beautifully done. It was one of those meals where there were clean plates all round because everything was just so delicious! My teenage cousin said the macaroni was the best she’s ever had, which is high praise from a very tough critic! The steak pie was also truly delicious – rich, comforting, and cooked perfectly. Honestly, everything we tried was amazing. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff went above and beyond for everyone, making us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. They were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. A wonderful experience from start to finish. Highly recommended – we’ll definitely be back! Added some of the food dishes we had, Wild mushroom parfait with pickled fennel & toasted sourdough, Giant hand crumbed mozzarella sticks, house chilli sauce, honey & parmesan, Steak & merlot pie, honey glazed vegetables & creamy mash or chips and Sticky toffee pudding, vanilla ice cream & butterscotch sauce.”

  “Quaint pub, tasty food. Sunday roast was delicious with all the trimmings. Huge portions, great bang for your buck at £17pp. The gravy was delightful, I’ll be needing a boat of the stuff next time. Chill atmosphere, pleasant, unobtrusive service. Visited on a Sunday afternoon.”
