About Duke Bar

A pool table sits in the back room at Duke Bar, a pub on Duke Street in the Dennistoun area of Glasgow. The bar pours Tennent's and Guinness on tap, and weekend nights bring live music, a DJ, or someone on the microphone. The interior keeps its old-school fittings, with plenty of tables, some worn flooring and taped seats. Dogs come in with their owners and are often about the bar. A step-free entrance lets visitors with mobility needs get in without a step at the door. The pub opens daily and runs on walk-ins, so no booking is needed. Out front, a pavement beer garden catches the sun for anyone who wants to drink outdoors.

Customer Review Summary

Cheap pints anchor nearly every account, with Tennent's singled out repeatedly and one visitor calling it the cheapest they had had in a long time, while the Guinness was reportedly very good too. Close behind is the back room pool table, described as brilliant and counted as a bonus by several, alongside a pavement beer garden one reviewer calls a sun trap. The traditional, old man style interior draws affection, though one visitor notes damaged flooring and duct tape on a few seats even as another describes the place as spotless. Friendly staff and regulars come up often, including a warm welcome and plenty of chat for a group in from Manchester, praise for one barmaid, and a mention of the two pub dogs. Live music on a Friday night and the person on the microphone both earn compliments. One reviewer alleges sectarian door practices and locals only entry on football days and reports a fruit machine swallowing money, and another was turned away at the bar after the DJ called last orders well before closing.

A sectarian bar that only lets locals in on football days. I had went for a while also the fruit machine error and steel your money. …

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
