About The Mill at Rode
In a refurbished mill on Rode Hill in Frome, The Mill at Rode is a pub restaurant with the river running alongside and tables right next to the water. Dogs are welcome, and a dog menu means they get something to eat as well. The Sunday roast comes with roast beef, lamb or pork, plus giant Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and plenty of veg. The Mill burger and fish and chips sit on the menu for everyday meals, and vegetarian and vegan options are available. Inside, the pub has seating that overlooks the river, so guests can watch the water from their table. One night each week brings live music or karaoke.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is what reviewers return to most, with roast lamb, beef and pork, giant Yorkshire puddings and plenty of vegetables, and one diner calling the beef cooked to perfection. Close behind is the riverside setting, with indoor and outdoor seating beside the water that several describe as special. Other dishes named include steak frites with the parmesan and truffle fries upgrade, mushroom tortellini, the Mill burger, fish and chips, salt and pepper squid, and a sticky toffee pudding. Reviewers also mention a good drink selection, a cold pint of Thatchers, and vegetarian and vegan options. Staff are described again and again as friendly, welcoming and attentive, and one reviewer says nothing was too much trouble for their elderly mother. A wedding guest says the team went above and beyond. Dogs are welcome, with one reviewer noting a dog menu. One diner says the food falls just short of top class but is still very good. The reviews raise no recurring complaint. One Sunday table was given a complimentary cauliflower cheese late in the day.

“An enormous thank you to the lovely staff at The Mill at Rode. I took my 90 year old mother for early supper last night and nothing was too much trouble. So kind and compassionate - my mother enjoyed her evening out so much - when asked how her meal was she was delighted to report that it was delicious (rare praise - she doesn't hold back from saying if something isn't quite right!). Well done and thank you to everyone and hope you don't mind if we come back soon!!!”

“Went to the Mill on Saturday night for a Birthday meal, sat outside as it was nice and sunny with a high temperature. Setting was wondering, felt like we were in a different country. Staff were very helpful and polite, food was amazing. Would recommend a visit to anybody.”

“Absolutely wonderful place. Beautiful building and surrounds, very nice vibe. All staff were so chatty and lovely. We ordered food and it was superb, the flavours and the quality!”

“Haven't tried the food yet (that's for the next time) but the cold, crisp pint of Thatchers and the wonderful setting gets the 5 stars already.”

“Had a delightful lunch/dinner with my parents for my birthday. Went for Sunday roast. Dad had the roast lamb, mum the roast beef and I had the roast pork. All of us were very full and we didn’t even finish all of the sides. Because it was going spare and it was late in the day, we got a complimentary cauliflower cheese that was also good - but we couldn’t finish it because we were just that full! We shared the asparagus starter and it was delightful. Staff were all friendly and attentive and the drinks were very good too.”
