Quick info
About Castle Farm, Midford
Castle Farm, Midford is an eclectic restaurant on Midford Rd in Bath, set in a converted farmyard barn with its own allotments around it. The weekend is built around shared evenings, with a curry club on Fridays and supper clubs on Saturdays. The dining room looks into the kitchen, so guests can see the cooking from their table. Sunday centres on the roast, which comes as a sharing roast or a "3 meats" option. The vegetarian version is a carrot and chickpea roast rather than a nut roast. A separate brunch menu includes a Malaysian plate with pakoras, greens, trout and pulled pork, alongside a full English. The restaurant opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays, and reservations are required. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return above all for the Sunday roast, with several calling it the best they have had, singling out the sharing roast, the beef, the cauliflower cheese, the yorkie and buttered kale, and a veggie roast of carrot and chickpea rather than nut roast. Portions are described as generous, and a damson and plum cordial and shared crumble get mentions. Close behind is the Malaysian brunch, where pakoras, greens, trout and pulled pork were shared, along with a full English eaten outside. Others praise the mushrooms and Isle of Wight tomatoes at lunch, the converted barn, the garden views and the waiting staff. The caveats are modest. One lunch reviewer found the lunch menu small and a strange crossover with brunch, with portions not proportionate to the cost, and another found the roast dishes a little over fussy, each covered in nuts or seeds. One notes dietary options are not marked on the menu, so you have to ask. Several mention booking weeks ahead for Sunday, and one reviewer said the chef swapped out ingredients for a member of their party.

“The best Sunday roast we’ve ever had. Meat option was absolutely incredible as was the vegetarian. Portion size was generous. We will definitely be coming back often & recommending to family and friends. Thank you for a lovely meal”

“Visited for lunch. The menu is a strange crossover of brunch and lunch but the lunch option is quite small. Definitely worth looking it up online before visiting to make sure its the right choice for you. Food was nice but portion size probably not proportionate to the cost. Chef was very accommodating at swapping out a few ingredients for one of our party. Atmosphere and decor feels authentic.”

“Wow! What a lovely place. Discovered when looking for somewhere different to enjoy lunch with a fellow foodie. Oh my goodness they do not disappoint! We received a warm welcome and were invited to sit anywhere, the young lady who served us was attentive and had time to answer all of our questions. We chose different things so we could share! You can see into the kitchen and watch your lunch being prepared. Absolutely delicious, fresh, vibrant flavours and well balanced dishes. The place has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We are booked for Sunday lunch in June for a shared birthday treat, can't wait! I had the mushrooms my friend had the IofW tomatoes both highly recommended. Sorry only one picture, it was to good we wanted to eat not take pictures. Update, Sunday lunch was also fabulous. We sat in the garden on a sunny day with a beautiful view and food to die for! And the serving staff were excellent, thank-you.”
