Customer Review Summary

Breakfast is the most common draw, and reviewers split sharply on it. One calls the large breakfast excellent value, while others describe a cold, tasteless bacon sandwich, poached egg on toast that lacked flavour, tepid baked beans and overdone bacon. Close behind is the setting. Reviewers mention quirky decor, rustic tables, music, seating upstairs and outside, a good beer range and a section of alcohol free drinks. One praises the fried chicken burger, and the dog friendly, child friendly feel comes up, including paper activities for children. The main complaints are about kitchen consistency: burnt tacos, sweetcorn and cheddar fritters and onion rings, cold chips, a halloumi burger that came spicy, and a meatball dish with only two meatballs. Several also say staff seem stretched, with tables left uncleared between seatings. Others still find the staff friendly and the service quick, and one reports food arriving prompt and hot.

“I would like to make a complaint about my recent order. I paid £14.25, but the portion I received was extremely disappointing — it contained only two meatballs and a very small amount of salad. I have ordered from this restaurant before and previously received much more generous portions, so I was particularly surprised and disappointed this time. For £14.25, I expected a reasonable portion and feel that what I received did not provide good value for money. I would appreciate it if you could look into this and offer an appropriate resolution.”

“Popped in to get a quick bite to eat on a hot day. We noticed that unfortunately every table was sticky and dirty, and things like the menus and S&P shakers needed a wipe. The bathrooms were nicely decorated, but in need of a clean. Beautiful building and nice staff, though! Food was excellent and fairly priced. Fab section of alcohol free drinks and its in a perfect location.”

“Sorry don’t think any photos this time but did have last time . A step up from weatherspoons . Better food choice and feels less microwaved. Service quick and friendly . Can order at bar and gets delivered to ya table upstairs downstairs or outside . Cool vib rustic tables and chairs dim lighting nice range of beers . Big tables for friend gatherings and children friendly have activities on table for them in paper form . Not to crowded even on weekends . Must stop for reasonable and tasty grub”

“Absolute worst place ever. I went with my husband as we were extremely busy and wanted a cute and quick place to stop for lunch. The drinks... they were milk. He ordered a cookie milkshake but it had a weird perfume taste. I ordered a matcha latte - i couldn't even taste matcha and the milk tasted like it had gone off. The food took way longer than expected to arrive. My husband's burger was tasteless and had spicy things with the halloumi (keep in mind he cannot tolerate spice; and the halloumi was deep fried and he cannot have that either.) Mine was supposed to be soughdough and avocado but mine was spicy too, avocado was mediocre (hard to mess that up) and the sourdough was more like burnt white bread. The vibes were cute and the workers were nice but not worth a second visit. Very, very, dissatisfied and disappointed. Also, a side note; would be nice to mention this place is horrible for people with anorexia as there are calories all over the menu and there is not an alternative menu available; it's even plastered everywhere online. Finally, my usually talkative and rather picky husband was left speechless at the quality of the food. Not only were the onion rings burnt, but the burger bun was hard, and the salad was not chopped, containing rather large chunks of lettuce - it was as if they had it all prepared earlier in the day and just reheated it up when needed.”
