Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food, singling out a fish finger sandwich with homemade fish fingers, a Scotch egg, and pub classics alongside weekly specials, all described as made with local produce. Close behind are the friendly staff and the draught beers and ciders, with a good range of local beers noted. Several mention how dog friendly the pub is, with dog beds, treats for pooches, and a new puppy, and the outside seating on the quayside gets repeated mentions, including one visit with live jazz. One diner says the chef made a low sugar pudding for a partner, and another notes vegetarian and vegan options. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the fish and chips batter soggy and the burger uncooked, said staff replied that the quality meant it did not matter, and called the food and drinks expensive. Two others describe the toilets as unclean, though a third calls them very clean and tidy. One reviewer shared a whole garlic baguette, chips enough for two, and homemade fish fingers.

“Nice quaint olde worlde Quayside pub with outside seating. Service was friendly and the food was outstanding. Quality, quantity and value for money. Nice quiet atmosphere and very dog friendly. You can even get your pooch a treat. Vegetarian and vegan options on a varied menu all made from locally resourced fresh ingredients.”

“Not the best, The batter on the fish was soggy and the burger wasn't cooked. Staff just say its such good quality it dosnt matter, it does matter ! And it did not taste Quality. £20.00 for burger and chips £20.00 for fish and chips, drinks are expensive at around £8.00 for a pint of cider.”

“We eat out a lot, and The Prospect is genuinely one of our absolute favourites. The service is always great, the pub itself is gorgeous, and you’re made to feel so well looked after every time. But most importantly, the food is consistently amazing. From the pub classics to the weekly specials, you’re always in for a treat 🤩🫶🏻”

“Lovely pub. Very friendly staff. Also they seem to love dogs in here as loads of dog beds & dog type things. Was only going to have a quick drink but saw someone's Scotch Egg & couldn't resist (even though we'd just eaten) Will 100% return to this pub. Brilliant selection of draught beers. Going to definitely have a meal next time we are in Exeter.”
