About Puerto Lounge
Puerto Lounge is a lounge bar in Exeter, set by the quay at 38 Commercial Rd with views over the river. A kids breakfast bar stocks cereal, and a book swap shelf and board games give children something to do while the adults settle in. The menu includes tapas options and sweetcorn cheddar balls, along with burgers such as the Diablo burger. Wraps and flatbreads, including a harissa chicken wrap and a chicken shawarma flatbread, add lighter choices. Gluten free options are available across the menu.

Customer Review Summary
The riverside setting draws the most mentions, with reviewers praising outdoor seating under large umbrellas in the sun and candle-lit tables inside as evening comes. Close behind is the food and drink, with diners naming the sweetcorn cheddar balls, a tangy Bombay chicken burger, a harissa chicken wrap, light crispy fries, tapas, a creamy latte and a sweet banana biscoff cake. Staff are described as friendly and helpful, and one parent of an autistic son found the calm atmosphere, quiet music and spacious seating welcoming. Families also mention a kids breakfast bar with cereal, a book swap shelf, board games and dog treats. Kitchen consistency draws the complaints. One diner found a Diablo burger thin and overcooked with little jalapeño heat and a shawarma flatbread burnt, another says quality drops when it is busy and waiters never checked the food, and a third found the tapas not piping hot. One smoker was disappointed that the garden is non-smoking. One party arrived to learn a pre-ordered dish was unavailable and had to order again.

“Beautiful space on the river... Fantastic service. I couldn't smoke in the garden though.. And I have tried reeealllly hard not to knock them down for it. The service is genuinely lovely, as is the food. Beautiful space.. But.. No smoking. Boo”

“Food quality decreases depending on how busy they are. Overall not a bad meal but far from ideal. Waiters were nice but never checked the food was ok.”

“Never disappointed by a Lounge bar but this one is especially lovely! Beautiful building with the usual quirky Lounge touches. Lots of space for seating and nothing crammed together. My son is autistic and can struggle in some environments, we often head for a Lounge bar because although they're all unique there is some familiarity in the food and layout. Ruby was really welcoming, kind and polite, excellent customer service and really made a difference to our visit. She definitely deserves some recognition for being amazing at her job. Gluten free options are great, would recommend the tapas options for people as indecisive as I am. Lovely and calm atmosphere and music not blaring too loudly. Lovely stop for lunch!”

“Really nice lounge this one as I go to quite a few.. I like this restaurant chain... They also own the cost club... Good food sitting out by the river... Then went in to candle lights on tables which I love... Yeh. All positive here”
