Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the pub food, with the steak and ale pie and the fish and chips named repeatedly, and one reviewer calling it the best pub food in Exeter for big, freshly cooked portions. The pulled pork burger and a sausage dish also get mentions, and one reviewer singles out a new passion fruit martini made by a chatty bar team. Close behind is the friendly service, with reviewers describing staff who sorted out a small mishap with a laugh, recommended dishes, and kept food waits short even on a busy Friday night. The chef coming out to chat or wave is a small touch that comes up twice. Reviewers who sit in the middle describe an average chain pub with little imagination, piped music, and a front bar they found too brightly lit for a first date, though the back room with TV screens suits sport. One visitor found the bar staff bored but attentive on a quiet afternoon. A recurring detail is the bar team's easy banter, which regulars say makes an end of week dinner a highlight.

“No food. But passion fruit martini - recently new to the menu. Bar team were lovely and chatty while they made for the first time. Great to see them calm under pressure and making delicious cocktails. Chef Tom even waved after we walked passed kitchen entrance.”

“Had a lovely experience on Friday for lunch. Morgana was absolutely lovely and very attentive. Even when things went slightly wrong we had a good giggle and she quickly sorted out the issue with a smile on her face.
