Customer Review Summary
Pasta anchors the praise, from a vegetarian spaghetti al carciofi with grilled artichokes and pine nuts to lasagne and a seafood pasta, with reviewers calling the pastas lovely. Close behind come the king prawn starter, a margarita pizza with fresh, tangy toppings, a tender beef roast, saltimbocca alla Romana and tiramisu, plus cocktails and a large beer and wine list. Service is described as friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere as elegant, though one reviewer found the kitchen noisy. The carbonara draws the sharpest criticism: a gluten free version had a flour-heavy, thickened sauce that felt unauthentic, and another diner found it too salty. One reviewer called the food not very authentic Italian, and others mention a long wait for the bill on a busy Sunday evening and a gap before dessert. One reviewer advises booking ahead after ending up on the terrace. Diners also recall a server customizing dishes and staff accommodating halal requirements.

“We went here our first night in Edinburgh. They were very accommodating over the phone regarding our booking, the entrance was lovely too, set up for Christmas already! We got the bruschetta to start which wouldn’t be my favourite especially given its cost. The pastas were lovely, perfect if not generous portions we felt. Service was good, the waitress was lovely and we weren’t rushed but we were waiting for a while between our main course and ordering dessert. The atmosphere was amazing, not too loud and the building itself was stunning and the tables weren’t too crowded.”

“I came with a friend for dinner and we were seated right away and given menus. We ordered cocktails, which were delicious, and each of us got a pasta dish. The food was outstanding—top-notch quality. Excellent service and reasonable prices considering the level of the restaurant. Highly recommended!”

“The food wasn’t very authentic Italian, but the chicken and vegetables were tasty. Sarowar made our experience much better—he was very helpful with the menu and customized our dishes for us. Thank you for the great service! Booking in advance is recommended, as we didn’t have a reservation and had to sit on the terrace.”

“I didn’t have high expectations of this place after reading reviews but was very pleasantly surprised! Service was great - attentive and friendly. My meal was delicious and served pretty quickly. Reasonable prices for the centre of the city. Would come back!”

“A large Italian restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food was good overall, and the service was attentive. The only small disappointment was that the Spaghetti Carbonara was a bit too salty for our taste. Apart from that, we had a pleasant dining experience and would happily visit again.”
