  “I went with family recently had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and really gives that classic cosy pub feel that makes you want to stay longer. The food was excellent – generous portions, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. It’s clear they take pride in using quality ingredients, and everything we ordered was cooked perfectly. It takes a while for food to arrive but it is expected when it’s cooked fresh. What really stood out was the service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. Even when it was busy, everything ran smoothly and we never felt rushed.  The pub itself has a lovely community vibe, with a great mix of people and a relaxed setting. Whether you’re going for a meal, drinks, or even one of their quiz nights, it’s a great place to spend an evening.  Overall, The Mowden is a brilliant local pub with great food, excellent service, and a fantastic atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to anyone in the area”

  “Absolutely shocking service sat for over an hour waiting for 2 meals and still didn’t get them as they claimed it was too busy and not enough kitchen staff however the restaurant had 4 tables occupied. Will not be returning as the bar staff did not care to ask if we would like a drink while we waited or let us know our food wouldn’t be out in a reasonable time.”

  “Visited for Sunday lunch. Very friendly staff, promptly took orders for drinks and food. Served in reasonable time. We had the 2 courses for £21. Enjoyed the chilli beef starter, very generous portion sizes. The beef was well cooked on the roast main, lamb ok, but most other things on the plate were under seasoned and bland and the Yorkshire pudding quite doughy on the bottom. Roast potatoes were ok, but not crispy at all. The cauliflower cheese was basically just steamed, with cheese melted in top. A decent gravy could have saved the day, but that didn't have much flavour either and was quite gelatinous in consistency. Overall rated good due to staff and ambience, but food was average. I probably won't be back for the Sunday roast, but would be happy visit again during the week to try other things on the main menu.”
