Customer Review Summary

Breakfast and clean rooms draw the most praise, with good choice and freshly prepared food. Dinner brings salmon, seabass, a crab aioli fishcake and a Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding. Two reviewers suggest booking, and one notes slow service when busy. One family found the pasta disappointing and was told the advertised children's chocolate fondue was unavailable.

“Had a great dinner here. Good menu with lots of choice; fishcake with crab aoli was excellent. Service was at times a little slow but it was very busy for a Mon and had a good atmosphere. Lovely decor and garden.”

“We chose this restaurant as a stop-off on our way to Cromer, having been in the car for around two hours with the kids. We’d read the good reviews and, importantly, chose it because it had an outside play area for the children to let off some steam, as well as a children’s chocolate fondue dessert advertised online — which was one of the things that swayed us to come here. Unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing. When we arrived, the manageress didn’t even acknowledge us as we walked in, which was a pretty poor first impression. The welcome from the rest of the staff wasn’t particularly warm either, although I do want to mention Agnes, who was lovely and was the one member of staff who really made an effort with us. We ordered the fish sharing platter, which was okay, but the accompanying “salad” was essentially coleslaw without the mayonnaise and certainly wasn’t what we were expecting. My daughter’s pasta was particularly disappointing and she struggled to eat it. Then, despite the chocolate fondue being advertised online and being one of the reasons we had chosen the restaurant, we were told they didn’t actually have it. This was especially frustrating when you’ve chosen somewhere specifically with children in mind. The play area was a nice idea and was exactly what we were looking for after a long journey, but unfortunately the overall experience just didn’t live up to the good reviews we’d read. I’m not usually one to leave a negative review, but when you’ve deliberately chosen somewhere based on what it advertises and the experience falls short on the food, welcome and availability of advertised items, I think it’s fair to share an honest experience. A particular thank you to Agnes, who was the one bright spot in an otherwise disappointing visit.”

“Really nice pub, reasonable prices, friendly service and a good range of ales and other drinks available. Really good beer garden with a great play park for the kids and dog friendly too. Most tables had reserved signs on them so looks like its best to book in advance!”

“Really great food and service. We arrived on a Monday evening and they didn’t have space to sit us right then but we booked in and had a drink and then got sat down promptly. The food was fantastic, really tasty, and the staff were really friendly. We had the salmon and the seabass and both were great choices.”
