Customer Review Summary

Most diners single out the food as the reason to visit Fino, with the monkfish, crab risotto with scallops, and saltimbocca-style catfish drawing particular praise, alongside an extensive wine list and well-made cocktails. A few diners note the steak is extremely well prepared, and one recommends starting or ending with the local gin. Service is frequently described as lovely, though a recurring complaint is that front of house can be too loud and chatty, with one group seated near rowdy drinkers in a corridor despite emptier tables in the main room, and another told the wine offer only after ordering. One diner arrived at 14:20 on a Saturday to be turned away for a 14:15 kitchen close, calling the listed opening hours wrong. A reviewer also felt the fresh fruit dessert was overpriced compared with the classics. Several recommend booking ahead, especially for Saturday nights.

“Fantastic food and great cocktails! Really nice atmosphere as well.”

“The food is excellent. Complimentary flavours, well presented and unusual. The staff are effusive, but far too loud, their constant chatter spoiled the atmosphere and environment.”

“The food and wine were truly excellent but it was a shame that the front of house experience was less so. We were seated in the corridor where there were loud drinkers despite the fact that there were plenty of empty tables in the main restaurant. We were informed of the “offer” on wine after we had ordered because the front of house staff were too busy chatting with said loud drinkers. What a shame, given the high standard of the food.”

“Excellent steak, extremely well prepared and very tasty. Limited menu to an extent. Main served very quickly after starter.”
  • Digby Pollard
“We had a really lovely meal at Fino, the food for the main courses was fresh and they have an extensive wine list, including vinho verde, which paired well with the skate I had. The waitress that served us was really lovely. My only reservation was the pudding - the fresh fruit, which was priced higher than the crème brûlée, did not feel worth the price. Perhaps a mistake on my part for not sticking to the classics. But still highly recommend for an evening meal.”
