About Town Crier
Town Crier is a pub on Corporation St in Coventry, built around a real ale bar with a selection of beers and ciders, and 1664 Blanc on tap. The kitchen serves a cottage pie and a sirloin steak with gravy. A starter and small plates menu adds mini fish and chips-style plates for those who want something lighter. Drinks can be ordered through a QR code, while food is ordered at the bar.

Customer Review Summary
The main caveat is inconsistent food. One reviewer found the small plates poor value, with stuffed mushrooms arriving far smaller than described, though the mushrooms themselves tasted gorgeous. Another found the sandwiches basic and tasteless and the chilli nachos had no chilli. A few note that food cannot be ordered through the QR code, so it means a trip to the bar, and that staff did not check on meals.

“Warm real ale bar that serves food until 4pm, nice cosy place appealing to a mixed crowd young and old and located in the city centre.”

“Just had a meal with a friend. We both had the sirloin and asked for it cooked medium. It was cooked perfectly. Wasn't expecting to receive gravy with the meal, so not only was this an added bonus, but the richest, tastiest gravy I've had at any food establishment (and I'm extremely fussy and critical about my food!) Would definitely recommend this dish!”

“Attended here with my 2 sons not realising England were playing a match in World Cup. It was easy to get a seat, ordering food + drinks were abit difficult as you can order drinks via QR code but food wasnt available on this so i had to go up to bar to order food! Food was very tasty + beautifully presented.”

“I popped in for a nice cold drink on the way home. I was served by a young lady who helped me pick a cider. Went for a old mout cherries and berries which was an excellent choice 👌. I did notice the kitchen was open and the food smelt amazing so I ordered a mini fish to keep me happy untill dinner and it was incredibly tasty. Well done to the chef, especially working in this heat! Safe to say ill be back. Thank you Town Crier”

“Atmosphere was good very friendly people. Bar staff okay not much banta or conversations going on just take order and move on. Food was okay but could do better no taste to sandwiches they was basic we ordered chilli nachos but didn't have chilli so not sure what we got Chips was amazing. Staff did not come and ask us if our meals was okay. Quality over budget always”
