Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast dinners draw the most praise, with one diner calling the roast beef really tender, and the specials menu follows close behind, where triple mac and cheese is named. A family also reports Korean chicken, lasagne and sausage and mash going down well. The setting earns repeated credit, from the roaring fire in the restaurant to a cozy, warm feel, and staff are often described as friendly. The food is less consistent. Two reviewers found the burgers weak, one calling the signature burger a dry lump and another describing the crispy chicken burger as a plate of brown. A returning diner found the soup very basic this time. One party saw fish and chips arrive well after the other meals, and a reviewer notes tables sit close together. One reviewer reports a server remarking that tips get taxed when a diner asked to add one to the card payment.

“Didn’t really rate the food we had today the soup was very basic. We have had soup there before and it was amazing, today really not. The service brilliant as always don’t know if they have changed the chef but wasn’t impressed. I even booked the table and stressed it was for my husband’s,50th birthday and really they didn’t care and didn’t acknowledge even when we had paid for what we had they said nothing so really not impressed today. We won’t be going for food there some time sorry to say that”

“Came with my partner and 2 kids this week to try out the new menu! I had Korean Chicken and she had Lasagne. The kids had sausage and mash. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and Dalton couldn’t do enough for us and the kids. Will definitely come back!”

“Our first visit to this pub on a glorious Sunday late afternoon, and it was absolutely buzzing. It was very busy, so I’d definitely recommend booking in advance. The décor is very tasteful and gives the place a great atmosphere, although some of the tables are a little too close together. I’m never quite sure why, when there are empty tables available, you still end up seated back-to-back with another family. Our waitress initially seemed a little cool and uninterested, but by the end of taking our order she was laughing and smiling with us, which really changed the experience. Dealing with the public all day can’t be easy, so it was nice to see her warm up. I had the crispy chicken burger, which was distinctly average. The presentation lacked appeal — the best way to describe it is “a plate of brown.” Although it tasted okay, it felt like something was missing, perhaps a side salad or some coleslaw to freshen the plate up. We ordered five meals in total; four arrived quickly, but there was quite a delay before the fish and chips arrived. Overall, it was the atmosphere, décor and the friendly service by the end of the meal that made the experience enjoyable.”

“The signature burger a tasteless terrible a dry lump, with aged pale lettuce, with nothing to also write about in a good way the bun cheese or bacon and what's with the big plates, it just makes the food look like a kids portion. Location and decor are great, staff are friendly and that's it. The food in my eyes didn't live up to the settings, sorry.”

“Turned up today and discovered this little gem and will be returning. It was busy as we arrived but the young lad who found us a table was just great. Bar staff taking my food order were polite and friendly and the 2 roast dinners and the triple mac and cheese that was on the specials menu all came out, yeah after 30 minutes but it was busy. We will be returning and it was a fantastic experience considering the 3 of us had no idea where we were going to drive to for food today.”
