About The Earl Of March
The Earl Of March is a fine dining restaurant and family run pub on Lavant Rd in Chichester, with views over the South Downs hills that inspired Blake's Jerusalem. The menu comes from a triple AA Rosette chef and draws on locally sourced and foraged ingredients. Pies are made on site, and the fish and chips pairs battered cod with wedges and homemade tartare sauce. A homemade bread plate is on the menu, and breads are also on sale. A lighter lunch menu runs alongside the main dinner offering, and BBQs feature too. The pub also welcomes weddings and business meetings.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the food itself, and the fish and chips lead the praise: a large, crisply battered piece of cod with crispy wedges, garden peas with asparagus shoot ends and a homemade citrusy tartare sauce. Close behind are the Shetland mussels in a rich broth, the ox cheek, the juicy steaks cooked just right and the pies made on site. The homemade bread plate and the BBQs also draw mentions, and the sticky toffee pudding and apple and elderberry crumble are named as dessert highlights. Service is described as friendly and efficient, even on a Monday lunchtime when the team was busier than expected. Diners also mention the field views, the beer garden and a good range of beers and wines. No real complaints recur, though one reviewer calls the main courses quite pricey while finding the light lunch menu reasonable. One vegan diner found no vegan dish on the menu, yet the chef was happy to make a meal to suit.

“Family run pub. Everyone very friendly, the pies we ordered are made on site, very colourful & attractive plate with different veg and all delicious. The homemade bread plate was very different too. Slightly varied menu to standard pub grub & prices were going rate to the area. Would definitely recommend.”

“The Earl of March is one of my favourite restaurants in the world! Going back is worthy of excitement. The food is spectacular, it's family run and not only is the food treated with unparalled care, so are the diners. I can't recommend enough! If there is ANYWHERE in the world with that standards of superior ( and generous!!) food, wine and view of England's green and pleasant land, then I have't found it ( and it's not for a lack of looking!) Can't wait to head back soon...thanks to Adam and his Mum and Tara and the entire staff for elevating AND keeping the standard so damn high! Dinners AND Sunday lunch both have me itching to revisit soon!!”

“Being over from France, and having been told that this is the place to go for the best fish and chips ever, I had to of course, try it out…. I was not disappointed…. Beautiful restaurant with ample parking with countryside views and an outside dining area, We had the Kalamata olives and salmon starters, both scrumptious.. and then went onto the Shetland mussels and the fish and chips… the large juicy mussels came in one of the most unctuous broths ever and were readily devoured,,, the fish and chips, well… humongous piece of crisply battered cod, equally crispy fried wedges, garden peas with asparagus shoot ends ( unusual and tasty) and a superb homemade citrusy tartare sauce…it’s a man-sized portion and difficult to eat the lot !!… but helped and washed down with a good French Picpoul…….hadn’t really got any room for puddings, but we bravely soldiered on. Sticky toffee pudding being one highlight and an apple and elderberry crumble being the other… what a delightful treat thoroughly enjoyed by one and all…all ably and expertly served by our waitress Esmeralda….who is a veritable font of knowledge regarding all things food related… all in all, cannot recommend highly enough… and look forward to my next visit”
